Flower Girl Finds

March 12th, 2008 @ 3:34 pm by Mrs. Penguin

We had been holding out until Easter season to go shopping for a dress for our Flower Girl, in hopes of an Easter dress that didn’t blow the budget.  I love this simple look, from David’s Bridal, but $100 for a tiny white dress is a little hard for me to swallow.

Well, the season is finally upon us, and I scored a great white tulle dress for $19 at Target.com:

“Perfectly Dressed” White Toddler Girls Tulle Dress, Target.com

Paired with a 10″ wide silk charmeuse sash in Slate Grey from Nimil.com (available in 110 colors, and on sale currently for $20), our girl will perfectly coordinate with the rest of the wedding party! Not bad for $40! Here’s the completed look:

A friend of mine went shopping during and after Halloween for princess/fairy/ballerina costumes. Worked like a charm. She gave the accessories to the parents to add to the girls’ dress up stash at home.

Easter season is awesome for weddings! I got ours at Marshall’s for $30!!! It’s ivory with a light champaign sash. I couldn’t be happier with the dress.

My sister is going to hate me. She paid a lot for my niece’s dress! I’m so not telling her about this find.

I’m doing the same thing with Easter dresses. I’m actually not looking for pure white, Target doesn’t have that white dress in purple or green (why only pink and yellow and blue??), but Macy’s has tons of cute dresses as well! I’m waiting for a post-Easter clearance.

@Miss Lovebird: huh? they have sashes?

Oh…heehee I see! Well the scarf is 10 inches wide and the sash is 4.5 inches wide so i thought I’d play it safe and get the wider sash, and then if its too wide, we would just hem it ourselves.

I actually own 2 sashes from there (the 4.5 inch wide ones) and when the dress came in we tied one around our flowergirl in her dress, and it was already wide enough, but I think the 10 inch wide might give the bow more of a “big luxe” feeling…

When the 10 inch scarf comes in, I’ll put her in it and snap pics of both the wide scarf and the thinner sash and you guys can see the difference! I’m still waiting for the scarf though!

i was just at david’s earlier and the one i wanted was $120. 120! wow. i couldnt imagine spending that much on a dress she will wear once! my FI only wants stores which we can go to and she can try them on so that there is no shipment and timing issues.
