I’ve Been Cheating

March 12th, 2008 @ 1:09 pm by Miss Hydrangea

I have to confess to the hive. I’ve been cheating on you.

I’m not as tech savvy as many of you, and with the wedding planning being in this awkward lull (you know, you’ve booked all the main vendors but it’s not quite close enough to start with the detail items yet) I’ve discovered Google Reader.

My hours of searching on the hive have given way to hours of searching through blogs on the Reader. And with the wedding planning lull, and also my slight wedding planning burnout, I’ve come to find the Google Reader as both my great escape from the wedding madness and also a great source of inspiration for shopping and decorating (and, let’s face it, some more wedding planning as well).

That being said, I realized that this Saturday we will have our first cake tasting with Romano’s Bakery here in Dallas and I’m in desperate need of some inspiration ideas for cake. I am loving Miss Sundae’s posts on cake (and weddings in general), and have decided that in my dream world April Reed would be designing our cake. I love the shapes and simplicity of her cakes, they just look so classy.

However, I think that instead of flowers I want to incorporate our monogram (to be revealed soon). Also, I was thinking that instead of one cake, what if we did two smaller cakes, one white w/ the black monogram and one black w/ the white monogram.

So, I’ll limit my fashion and decorating binges on the Reader and get back to work on this wedding. Any suggestions on good resources for cake inspiration?  Who are your favorite cake designers?

Beautiful cakes! I’m not much help for inspiration, though…I found a picture of the cake I wanted in one of the first wedding mags I bought after we got engaged. After that, nothing else would do! :)

Oh how I love April Reed! I think a monogram on one of those cakes would look fantastic
