About Mrs. Bubblegum

My Best Friend

March 13th, 2008 @ 12:36 pm by Mrs. Bubblegum

For about a week now, I have been stuck in the house, sick as a dog, with this guy right here (so please forgive my lack of postingness):

mrbg1

As it turns out, that’s really not such a bad thing, since “this guy right here” is none other than my best friend and my future husband – Mr. Bubblegum. (Get it? Sick as a “dog”? “My best friend”? I think it’s the fever talking…)

A little while back, Mr. BG mentioned to me that he noticed my weddingbee posts were “seriously lacking” any Mr.-BG-content. So, in MY true style, I will be stealing someone else’s idea – a la Miss Hummingbird, here are 10 things I love about Mr. BG (except, I’m gonna go from 10 down to 1 so that it’s… different…)

10. Mr. BG is a cat person. I have nothing against dog people (please don’t yell at me – the whole first paragraph of this post was dedicated to youu!), but I just couldn’t MARRY a dog person. So aren’t I lucky to have fallen in love with another cat person???

9. Mr. BG is a super cute dancer. This is actually both a happy and a sad point… because although Mr. BG will bust a move for me, and although we have had some SERIOUS dance-offs in the car… alas, he will not dance in public.

8. Mr. BG moved to New Hampshire for me. Okay, so, he’s from Vermont… and we went to school in Mass… so it’s not that much of a stretch. But he chose to put my career ahead of his own (with an ultimate goal of being a house husband), and I happen to find that extremely sexy.

7. Mr. BG is much nicer than me. In fact, while we were in college, I introduced him to some of my high school friends – and now they’re his friends instead. :) This comes in handy when I’m being a mean Bubblegum and he helps me catch myself.

6. Mr. BG is super super supportive. I spend a lot of time studying… which means a lot of time without him… and he’s totally amazing about it. Personally, I don’t think he minds a few extra hours of MLB: The Show, but at some point, that and the cats get boring, so…

5. I trust Mr. BG with my life. I mean that in a general sense, but also – when it’s snowing and I don’t want to drive to work, I let him drive me because I know he’ll get us both to work safely. J

4. Mr. BG is smarter than me. GASP. This takes a lot for me to admit… and we actually jokingly argue about this a lot… but I really have to give it to him. That boy will kick anyone’s ass in Trivial Pursuit, he will finish my crossword, he will talk to my brother about astronomy and physics for hours, he will tell me the capital of nearly any African country, and he will instantaneously tell me how many letters were in the last sentence I said (um, that’s weird, right?).

3. Mr. BG knows me better than anyone in the world – and since I met him, I’ve learned to know myself better than I ever thought I could. This one’s important. Star this one.

2. Mr. BG makes me laugh every day – mostly I love it, but sometimes it drives me crazy. Like when I’m mad… or at work… or being tickled.

Annnnnd the number one reason I love Mr. BG (drumroll please)…

So that, Mr. BG, was for you. For the rest of you - what about your future/current husband makes you want to tell the world??

I am with you, Miss BG, about having found a stronger sense of self as a result of the relationship I have with Seena. He’s so supportive of anything I want to try or do. I don’t feel that I need him but I want to share it all with him. That was a huge eye-opening realization, I can be me and in a great relationship.

He’s opened my world so much. For example, I had never had oysters until our first date, ditto for things like lamb, indian food, egyptian food. My growing up years were pretty culinarilary sheltered.

He also makes me laugh, constantly. The Seena that I live with is a complete goofy dork, and I love that we can be big goofy dorks together.

Aww! Sweet post! I think your fiance looks a little like Jake Gyllenhaal in the last picture. :)

Even if Mr. Bubblegum were a dog person, you’d still be marrying him. If you really love someone, you don’t let a pet difference come between you. I really don’t like dogs. At all. They’re loud, smelly, and you can’t leave them alone overnight. No, thanks. Never, ever want to own one. He’s a huge dog person — can’t wait to get one. Somehow, I’m confident that we’ll make it work in the end, though there might be a lot of bribery on his behalf. :)

I love that he always surprises me with niceness when I least expect it. He can be a kind of grumpy person and tends to resort back to being selfish when he’s not working at it, but then when I’m having a crappy day, there are flowers on the table, or he’ll call me to find out what he can do before I get home to make my day better. I’m in the middle of an awful time-course experiment right now that requires me to lyse cells in the lab everyday at 10am, 4pm, 10pm, and 4am, so I haven’t slept in 4 days and he’s constantly asking what he can do to make my life easier, and that is priceless.

Such a cute post.

I love your #4.

The hubby and I are both “know-it-alls” and it is shocking and satisfying when one of us knows something the other doesn’t. I love that!

I converted mine to a cat person. He even insisted we get a kitten last December. It’s his baby now.

I also knew I wouldn’t ever marry a non-cat person. All of the other guys I dated before my FI were allergic!

Aw yay thanks for sharing everyone!! Haha, I probably COULD marry a dog person if, like, I had to. I just appreciate the fact that I don’t have to. :)

one of the most stellar things about him (i have to admit for the fifteenth time, a little ashamedly, that we’re still “boyfriend” and “girlfriend”, and that i’m reading wedding sites anyways!) is that he looks to the future and immediatley plans it around my life goals.

pretty much, he’s the perfect match to my traditional, conservative, shoulda-been born in the 50’s self. and to find a 19-year-old these days that wants to get married young, let his wife stay at home, and attends the early service of church with me every single sunday (his only day off sometimes!) PLUS is super driven and motivated… ah sorry, i’m done being all silly :).
