About Mrs. Lovebug

Hair Trial: Loosey Goosey

March 14th, 2008 @ 12:15 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

If I knew nothing else going into this wedding (what do you mean if, Lovebug?), I knew I wanted to wear my hair down. I’ve just never been an up-do kinda gal. Add to that the fact that medieval queens wore their hair down and loose for their weddings (I love me some medieval queens, I do), and I’m sold.

So yesterday I had playtime with my BSF (best stylist forever) Jamie at Gadabout salon. I communicated the look I wanted by flashing gang signs in the mirror:

I love Jamie because she lets me wear the towel capelet long after my hair is dry. It makes me feel like such a superheroine (my wonder power clearly NOT being anything to do with buttoning shirts correctly):

As you can see by my dorky grimace, I’m quite happy with the results. It feels soft, sexy, and I like that it’s a more casual style to “counterweight” the formality of my gown.

She threaded a few strands along through the sides (medieval!) for a little bit of detail; they’ll be pinned with the pretty pearl-tipped bobby pins I naturally forgot to bring along:

Get a little closer, don’t be shy:

I imagine that the “mussiness” of this look may well not sit well with our more - erm - conservative guests. But that’s just…A BONUS! I’m not wearing a veil, and part of the reason is I want a lot of swing and light in my hair. I think Jamie did an awesome job. I even violated my 18 inches of personal space rule to thank her properly!

I’d also love to take a shot at a ponytail, as well. Not for everyone, I know. But if I were a hairstyle incarnate, it’d be a ponytail. It’s just very me. Can anyone point me in the way of a soft, sexy ponytail pic? Or should I just stick with the loosey goosey look?

I totally would’ve gone for it had my hair not been so darn short.

You have such nice shiny hair, it looks awesome! I do love me a side pony though and you could maybe even do side pony ceremony and then let it out for reception, I have always wanted two hairstyles in one day!

lovely lovebug.
i think you’d look cute in a pony tail as well but my vote goes for the loose&sexy!
I plan to do the same, i’m just worried the swirls won’t last, as i have baby thin straight hair. which product are you using to keep them fixed for the whole day (or most of it)?

I love the loosey goosey! There’s just something about a bride that looks dreamy and ethereal on her wedding day.

The idea of a side pony is great too. Good advice from the other ladies about using it as a second style during the reception. In case things get a little hot in the dance floor!

Oh, thanks guys! =) I don’t know why my hair never looks shiny to me than pulls off a shine coup in pictures. Maybe the Omega 3’s ARE working…?

Lali - Jamie uses Kerastase (the green spray, though I don’t know what it’s called) on my hair, and everything tends to hold pretty well. And it smells yummy.

The shirt’s from Free People (a few seasons back), the jeans are Gold Sign (Posh Too for anyone local)

Clarita and Clarita - both of those are freakin’ gorgeous styles. Think I might have to give those a shot, too. Thanks for the links!!

This is so weird, right after I finished reading your post, this link was on the front page of msn.com as I opened up another browser…

And just as I was thinking “forget about the ponytail! Loosey-Goosey is sooo pretty.” That ponytail changed my mind. I think it would look beautiful on you. Or as some of the other girls mentioned, it would be nice for a switch-up for the reception. Be sure to post pics if you try this one too!!

Doh! I just realized that it’s the same picture that Emily posted. Oh well. I still think the timing of me finding it was fate. :D

I say go with a fancy ponytail! I think it would make it look even more special and it sounds like that’s what you really want! Here’s some pics.
