Shower time this weekend! My mom and girlfriends went all out and threw me a superriffic shower this weekend!

The Spread (more on that later!)
The theme of the shower was “Gourmet Food and Wine” so in the invitation, my MOH included a recipe card and asked everyone to write down their favorite recipes for me. Can’t wait to try them out!
We played 3 games, the first being “Guess my age” where my parents pulled out hideously embarassing photos of me growing up and people had to guess my age.

Yes. Thats Pengy in a clown suit with the Jazz Hands. Dont ask.
The second game was the classic “How well do you know the bride” game. There was initally a 3-way tie for the winner, but one of the questions was a trick question. It was “Was Miss Penguin a Trojan or a Bruin?” Most people answered “Bruin,” but the answer was really “both” because my high school mascot was oddly the Trojan, while my college mascot was the Bruin. The winner was my old neighbor who was my first babysitting client ever! I watched her when she was a newborn, and now she’s the same age I was when I first started sitting for her. I’m old.

The third game was a big hit. My MOH bought four Cabernet Sauvignons at varying price points ($2, $10, $20, $35) and we all had to taste each and guess which was the cheapest and which the most expensive. I only got one right (the $2 bottle, since Mr. Peng and I are very familiar with the 2 buck chuck!!!).

Gift time! My flower girl helped open the gifts, and kept asking when it was time for us to sing Happy Birthday
This was her first Bridal Shower, and it suspiciously resembled a Birthday Party so she was pretty confused why I didn’t blow out candles on the cake.

Of course, I cried a couple times because I have no self control over my emotions. My friend Jenny handmade our cake toppers and gifted them to me at the shower. When I saw them for the first time, I burst into tears. Most of the girls there probably thought I was crazy to act so nutso over a couple of crafted birds but I knew that she had spent so much time on them and they turned out so gorgeous!

Why don’t you cry about it, crybaby?
