Mrs. Petunia's Picture
Mrs. Petunia, Ft. Lauderdale Age and Occupation: 31, College Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Engineering Student/Part-time Barista Engagement Date: December 8, 2006 Wedding Date: March 2, 2008 Venue: Riverside Hotel Blogging Since: August 6, 2007 About Me: Our original idea of running off to get married quickly turned into an event with 100+ guests once other people got involved and I, too, got swept away in the lovely madness that is wedding planning. Mr. Petunia and I are obsessed with all things World of Warcraft, Monopoly, and Nintendo, so we’re planning on including some fun “game-y” details into our wedding.
About Mrs. Petunia

As was promised to us by many, one of the highlights of our honeymoon was seeing Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles show: LOVE. Of course, I would think you’d have to be a Beatles fan to love it, but I’m always surprised when I hear people say they aren’t.
Here are some pictures of the amazing show, not taken by me, since I was a goody-two shoes and actually paid heed to the “no photography” rule, oft repeated before the show began:

Now I’ve only seen Cirque shows on TV and LOVE was my first one in-person, but I got the impression that LOVE features more dancing than acrobatics, which is what I first associate with Cirque — either way, it was FUN and we left there just feeling so…happy!

Unfortunately, tickets aren’t cheap - poopy! But, we paid mind to our Las Vegas guide, which let us know that because a lot of the action occurs “on the elevated stages and above, the eye-level seats are better,” and those aren’t the most expensive ones.

Vegas is full of Cirque shows: Mystere, O, Ka, and Zumanity, which is their “sexy” show. I wish we’d had time to see that one, too — the pictures of it just make it look so enticing and somehow very honeymoon-appropriate:

Maybe on our next trip! For those who have seen other Cirque shows, which one would you recommend most?

So jealous. I LOVE (pun intended) the Beatles and have been wanting to go to this show! Now, I just have to make it to Vegas first.

My fiance surprised me with tickets to this show after he proposed to me on the gondolas at the Venetian. You are totally right about the eye level seats. The second tier is the best. We were nice and close enough to be a part of the action and the actors and actresses, but we didn’t have to crane our heads up like the first section.

I am a certified Cirque FREAK! I’m glad you had a good time at LOVE. I haven’t been to Vegas since that show opened, but I’m hoping to go soon.

My favorite Vegas Cirque show is hands-down Zumanity. I had front row seats for my birthday a few years back. A half-naked performer gave me a rose!! HOT!!

I’ve seen Ka, Mystere, and O. They are all very cool in their own unique ways!! My favorite part of Mystere was the comedy skit between acts - too funny!! O of course was just sooooo cool. The stage is really a pool of water and they keep switching what part is water and what is not. There’s running/splashing and diving all over the place :)

Ok I have to confess that I slept through most of Ka, but not cause it wasn’t just as neat! I’d eaten a huge meal for one. And two - I just have a bad habit of sleeping through stuff like this, the music lulls me to sleep! I remember the speakers were in your actual seat so the surround sound was right there! They also had very cool stages and neat crazy stuff! I’d like to go see it again, but not until I see the others :) Oh yeah the other different think I remember is that there were balconies surrounding the sides of the audience and the cast was swinging/hanging etc all around before the show. It felt like they were in the audience!

LOVE has always been my first choice, but I can’t convince others to go with me!! Since I’m usually there with my boss I won’t be seeing Zumanity any time soon - but maybe the hubby will make another trip with me soon! Cirque shows are pricey - but sooooo worth it! There’s really not a bad seat in the house either :) You can’t go wrong :)

It’s not exactly a cirque show, but it has some of the elements…Teatro Zinzanni in Seattle. Five-course meal, comedy and cirque all under one roof. I’ve been twice and I keep trying to find an excuse to go again. :)

My fiance and I went to see Zumanity on our first vacation together (which happened to be to Vegas). I have to admit that I was a little embarrassed. As a “good Southern” gal, it was a little too erotic for me, with the nudity and overt sexuality. I think now though, if I went back on my honeymoon, it may be more appropriate. :)

Ooh lucky! I really want to see Love! I’m glad you liked it because I have a friend who didn’t like it so much, which was after she’d seen Zumanity with me and a few other friends. Zumanity is the only Cirque show I’ve seen so far and I really liked it? I think I could possibly get bored easily with these things, but Zumanity was pretty entertaining and interesting! I found an awesome internet deal where I got tix for only $50, but halfway through the show, I actually felt bad that I paid so less, considering what the performers do. They’re so crazy! (And usually, $50 would be a lot of me, even if it’s for a Cirque show. =P)

I love O, Ka, and Mystere. O is my all time favorite, but I heard it changed a little since I saw it (a few years ago). Ka is my second favorite. And I like Mystere because it is fun, but besides that I like O and Ka more.

i saw Mystere in Vegas but wasn’t that impressed after seeing other shows on tour in my local city. i wish i had seen O instead. Love sounds really good -i’ll have to watch that next time!

My fav. Cirque show is “Alegria” because of the stunts AND the music- i think it’s the best performance wise. After that i liked “Varekai” and Mystere last.

I just have to say I am totally and utterly jealous right now. Mr S and I were supposed to go to Vegas pre-wedding for a mini pre moon. And it was all to see Beatles Love…..

I’m so gald you had a good time! But still, I’m jealous! LOL.

My husband and I saw the Zumanity show on our last visit to Vegas. It was awesome to say the least. It was so enjoyable for couples to see. The artistry is so amazing. And when they say no children they mean it. I think it is a must for any couple going to Vegas.

And there are discount ticket places that close at 5pm that can get you great discounts on a lot of Vegas shows.

My fiance and I took an impromptu mini vacation to Vegas for the weekend, and went and saw O. The show was totally amazing, and from what we heard it is the best one cirque soleil does. We asked every waiter and Vegas resident we could find and they all agreed, if you are only going to see one, then see O.
