I used to hate Daylight Saving Time up until I started working. I dreaded the spring time change because I always thought of it as losing an hour. Now, I love leaving work when there is still light out!!!

Having a destination wedding, one of the things I’ve had to research and ponder about is ceremony time. I’m sure every bride thinks about this somewhat, but I think I’ve had to give it much more thought. Although I’ve been to Cancun seven times, I can’t say I’m too familiar with everything about the place. One thing I do know is that the sun rises and sets really fast and it varies greatly depending on what time of year it is. I’m sure it has something to do with its proximity to the equator…

At first I figured I’d just use the same ceremony time as other brides who had their wedding at Dreams. I’m sure they did their research, right? Then I realized that it makes a huge difference depending on the month you get married in. For example, there is a difference of two hours comparing the sunset times for the months of January and July in Cancun.
I found the following websites pretty helpful.
Lucky for me the sun sets the latest around the time I am getting married. But if I were planning a winter wedding, it would be another story - I would have definitely pushed up the timeline. I also have to give it more thought since the wedding is completely outdoors. From the ceremony on the cliff… to the cocktails on the terrace… to the reception on the beach.
Anyone else give ceremony start time as much thought as I did?
I did. I checked to see when the sunset was, then I worked around that time. I really though that the light would be beautiful around sunset. I also like having dinner when it is dark. It is easier when the ceremony and reception is at one location.
