Mr. Petunia and I are obsessed with all things World of Warcraft, Monopoly, and Nintendo, so we’re planning on including some fun “game-y” details into our wedding.
About Mrs. Petunia

Okay, I can at least identify your everyday Borg or Vulcan, but I don’t know enough to tell the difference between a Bajoran and a Cardassian. Mr. Petunia, bless his soul, can tell them all apart, and did when we indulged our geekiness with a visit to the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Sadly, the scariest part of the whole thing is the price: about 40 bucks a person — yikes! But well, it being our honeymoon, in we went ready to fight off assimilation no matter the cost. (And discount coupons are available in many of the booklets handed out all over Vegas, including the cabs).

The Experience features a museum and two rides: a Klingon Encounter simulator and a 4D Borg Invasion adventure. Both were terribly fun!

Also, true Trekkies will get a kick out of Quarks Bar & Restaurant inside, where you can nibble on Famous Ferengi Flat Bread and Seven of Nine Seafood Collective and sip their version of a Long Island Iced Tea: a James Tea Kirk.

So yes, we’re officially outing ourselves as nerds now, and here are the pictures to prove it:

Ahh, you guys are so cute!!! Mr. Jasmine looooves Star Trek (haha Mr. J, I outed you) and he insisted we visit the Star Trek experience last time we were in Las Vegas. It was actually pretty fun! I’m so glad you guys had a good time on your honeymoon!

You can actually have your wedding ceremony on the bridge of the Enterprise (accomodates something like 45 guests) and your reception in Quark’s bar. I know this because Trekkie friend just sent me the information. Seriously - not this time around - but maybe a Vulcan Vow Renewal a few anniversaries down the road?

Live long and prosper, Nerdy Petunias!

I am married to a Star Wars nerd and I love me some battlestar Galactica, so I mean that with love and in dweeby solidarity. ;)

Haha suzanno - that’s why I sent the link to this post to Mr. Bluebell! We saw ads for that in Vegas when we were engaged and he was (jokingly? I think?) suggesting we could scrap our plans and do that instead! I’ll have to dig out the picture of us standing next to the big poster…

You really should watch the movie “Trekkies”. It’s a documentary about people who are obsessed with Star Trek and it is absolutely hilarious. And the best part is watching it with a group of people and finding out who is a secret fan because they understand all of the jokes and insider references :)

Love it! My fiance and I went there about a year ago and had so much fun. We definitely have geeky tendencies (read: we are total geeks).
