For Mr. Lovebug:
The thing about Lovebugs is, they wear their hearts on their wings. This can lead to all sorts of damage, including bruising, tearing, and permanent scarring. Because while a Lovebug’s wings are exposed to all the world, they’re actually quite fragile. Lovebugs must be very careful to steer clear of wasps and other predatory man-imals.
The thing about Lovebugs is, there aren’t very many of them. There was an “incident” back in ’02 involving a miscommunication at the Homeland Security desk, and, well - let’s just say that crop dusters can’t do “surgical strikes” after all. So if you see two Lovebugs coupled, you’ve really just witnessed a miracle.
The thing about Lovebugs is, they require special care. You can’t keep a Lovebug in a jar, or an aquarium. Even aviaries make them claustrophobic. They need to feel secure, yes, but they need lots of room to buzz about, too.
The thing about Lovebugs is, they metamorphose all the time. In fact, a mature Lovebug can go through several transfigurations in its lifetime and be almost unrecognizable as its original Lovebug self. It takes a trained eye to say, “Ah, yes. That is the same Lovebug I knew before.”
The thing about you is, you’re the only other Lovebug I’ve ever met, I’d ever want, and I’ll ever need.
Happy t-minus 30 days, M.
Awwww…this is the cutest, Miss L!
