About Mrs. Hummingbird

We Brides Can Also Wear A Utility Belt!

Since I know I’m always in search of neat little things in wedding world, I thought I would pass this along because it’s kind of genius - a storage garter! This crazy little thing has a cloth pocket you can store stuff in like lipstick, a cell phone or, for a case of pre-wedding nerves, even a flask! I’m not 100 per cent sure how it would work with anything too heavy (you don’t want to make a metallic clunking noise underneath your chiffon gown) and you’d definitely want to make sure you removed everything from its pocket before the throwing the sucker (a Blackberry to the head would definitely dampen someone’s partying mood), but it’s a fun alternative to your regular bridal purse. Check it out!

BA says:

I believe Mrs Kiwi fashioned one of these for her own wedding- to hold her inhaler, right? Mrs. Kiwi- how did it work? Did you put anything heavy in it?

3.
Jo says:

Ever since Mrs. Kiwi mentioned hers, I have been wanting one to put my inhaler in!

Hehe that’s a neat idea… but I imagine that it wouldn’t be very convenient to reach, unless you want to be hiking your dress up in public =)

I agree with peihan17, I can’t imagine how I’d go about hiking up my dress to get at any of the things inside the pocket! Especially with my hoop skirt…

Mrs. Kiwi says:

Hey guys! I LOVED mine. My inhaler was perfectly at reach, and my lipgloss was exactly where I needed it. To help those of you who can’t picture how it worked, I either hid away for a sec, or grabbed it under the table. Seriously, it was great not having to lug around a purse!

Mrs. Kiwi says:

Oh, and in response to BA, I had my inhaler, my chapstick and my lip gloss, and I must have had some extra strong elastic, since it never slid down.

Also, peihan and Tanya, surprisingly, I got some good photo ops out of it, and since I really needed what was in my garter, I cared more about breathing than how it would look to hitch up my skirt. It’s no more shameful than the garter toss activites, in some cases it’s less than!

Oh, I have been looking for one w/a pocket like that! It’s just a bit steep at $54! I may just have to figure out how to sew one myself.

Sarah says:

The $54 includes a flask - i just saw its $39 without the flask. just fyi

I had a pocket in my dress to use for my inhaler and the lucky quarter that didn’t stay in my shoe. But I love the garter idea.

I will be keeping my lip gloss in my bra. I always do. This is a good options for anything else I might want to lug around with me though.
