Invitations: Le Fin

March 20th, 2008 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Bubblegum

Step 1: DIY Pocketfolds
Step 2: The Main Invitation
Step 3:
Invitation Sashes
Step 4:
Inserts!

Our invitations are DONE! W00t! And before sending them out, we had one final step: inserts. I had originally planned on having three inserts: directions, travel & accommodations, and the rsvp (which, as always, was a design stolen from Mrs. Lemon). However, at the last minute, I realized that we kept mentioning our Sunday brunch - but didn’t have an invite for it! So we made a last minute change, and here’s how it all turned out (hopefully it still looks like something after I erased all the juicy details):

They are lovely!! LOVE the brunch invites especially. Can somebody please tell me how to make a map like that? I really need one but don’t know how/where to do it.

i’m not sure how miss bg did hers, but i did mine in illustrator. i took a screenshot of a map, placed it in the document and sent it to the back, traced over the lines with the calligraphy brush tool, and then deleted the screenshot of the map. i then added street names with the type on a path tool.

OMG, I love love love your invitation! One big question! I would love to take the same route, but I’ve always been concerned with home printing. I browsed through your previous posts relating to each part of invitation, and from what I understood, you printed at home? If so, I am more assured to proceed with this approach. While the other invitations seen on here are beautiful, they are professionally printed, or by Gocco’ed. Anyhow, I just want to be assured that home printing using a home printer would do the job just fine…as yours had turned out. Let me know!

BTW, did I mention I <3 <3 <3 your invites! Great job!

I wanted to rip off Mrs Lemon so badly too on the RSVPs! I couldnt bring myself to do it, but now as the RSVPs start coming back in, I realize it really is the best design. I tried to keep it simple with just a line for names, and a simple will attend/will not attend check box. I think I’m going to have to make a lot of “follow up calls” saying “so, are ALL of you coming, now?” “any vegetarians?”

CRAP!

Good job, love your brunch invite too!

Thanks, Rebecca!! To say that I’m artistically challenged is an understatement.

Yay thanks all! To answer some questions:

Kris - if you don’t have Illustrator, you could also do the same thing in Microsoft Powerpoint (I feeeel like it was Miss Lovebird who posted about this, but I can’t remember and can’t find it, so sorry if I’m not crediting this properly) - but there’s a line you can draw that you can curve to make the curves in the road, which is how I traced mine. Good luck!

Furelysse - thanks! Yeah, I printed everything myself - I have a Canon Pixma iP1600, which worked great - the only thing that didn’t work well was envelopes. Some worked, some didn’t - let’s just say we ended up doing our own calligraphy on the envelopes.

Pengy - haha, I did realize though that I totally forgot kids meals. :) Also, I don’t think my guests are as disciplined as Mrs. Lemons’ guests, coz we keep getting rsvps that say “well, I might be staying at this hotel, but I’m not sure…”

:) Well ya did an awesome job. Bravo! Most guests are just probably really excited to come to the wedding they havent made any concrete plans yet! Are you doing OOT bags, is that why you need to know where theyre staying?

I might distribute OOT bags at the rehearsal dinner, just to make it a bit easier (but were having a big RD)…but then again we only have one hotel option in my Podunk town, so I guess it will be easy for us to know where theyre staying…
