My Necklace

March 20th, 2008 @ 6:33 pm by Mrs. Sundae

When you pair my indecision with the fact that I don’t normally wear a lot of jewelry, deciding on a necklace for my wedding day is almost impossible. I want something simple and that probably doesn’t involve diamonds. The next logical choice would be pearls, but I don’t think a standard strand of pearls really fits my personality or the level of formality we’re going for. Then I saw this picture of from lucky7wife’s knot bio:

The necklace is just one long strand of coin pearls that the bride (Molly) let hang down her back…I think it’s perfect! I looked around online and found a close match from Etsy seller BeadleJules:

I love that it can be worn so many different ways…I can make a purchase and still don’t have to make up my mind! And if I decide to go Molly’s route and wear it hanging down my back, I can just cut off the clasps and always reattach them later. I am still debating about going sans necklace, I might have to try this on with my dress and see how it looks before I make the final decision. What do you think? Are you wearing a necklace?

I’m definitely not a jewelry girl, so I was planning on wearing my mother’s pearls from her wedding. Tradition means not having to decide for yourself!

We ended up having a spare loose diamond (from the groom’s extraordinarily generous family, poor us), so we combined it with a black pearl from my family and made a neat pendant that joins the two families. Oh, the weeping when people heard about that!

The super cool thing about the necklace you’re looking at is the literally endless variety. You’d be using that for years to come.

That’s a gorgeous necklace - and versatile too! Definitely a good choice.

I ended up not wearing a necklace because I wanted the focus to be on my veil which had gold scalloping on the edges. I borrowed some costume earrings from my great aunt that had big rhinestones on it - which worked out perfect.

i bought a necklace that I thought would work perfectly with my dress.. but it turns out it works too perfectly. I feel like I am in a catalog when I wear it. So, I think I’ll either go without a necklace or wear something that blends in more.

I like it! I just purchased a necklace from amys bridal accessories. I had a necklace but decided to go with something a little fancier than what I had. I’m not normally a big necklace wearing kinda gal but I just fell in love with it.

I didn’t think I’d wear a necklace because I didn’t want to take focus away from my dress. I had no veil and my mom’s small diamond studs for earrings. Never thought I was a pearl girl, but on the morning my mom’s wedding pearls (a gift from her MIL) looked perfect. You never know.
The necklace in the photos is really cute. go for it.

Beadlejules is great!! Her store is out of Tampa (where I live) and her jewelry is amazing. It’s such high quality and beautiful. You can even go to her store and design jewelry yourself (obviously not an option if you don’t live in Tampa..) You’ll love that necklace!

jamies - they’re actually coin pearls. They’re flat and kind of shimmery. Hope that helps!

I think it’s a lovely idea. I decided to go with dramatic earrings instead, but I think pearls would be beautiful. I bought some pear earrings for my BM’s from Dasha Bouqtique on-line and I found some similar long pearl necklaces for you to consider — hope this helps: http://dashaboutique.com/pearls.html

That necklace is great..a nice alternative to “standard” pearls.
I wasn’t really thinking about jewellery, because I hadn’t bought a dress yet, when I came across a labradorite necklace and matching earrings. My engagement ring is labradorite which has a really cool bluish shine to it, so it’s my something blue too, and I’ll be able to wear it often after the wedding. Yay!

i like your “almost” choice…..

i’lll be wearing a choker. more than likely rhinestone-y…….possibly vintagey.

when it comes to special occasions, i always go for the choker. i figured my wedding day was no exception.

i LOVE them!

Do you have a picture of the bride from the front? I love the idea of the necklace draping down in the back - but I’d like to know how it’ll look from the front. :)

BeadleJules is totally awesome, after seeing this post I went and custom ordered a necklace from her, like this one except just one strand, 16″. She is amazing to work with and very eager to make sure my wedding jewelry needs were met. Honestly, I can’t say enough good about her.
