Snow, Snow, Go Away!

March 21st, 2008 @ 1:09 pm by Mrs. Hummingbird

(But don’t come again another day because I’d much rather being wearing shorts.)

So today marks Day 99 on the Hummingbird wedding countdown calendar. I’m happy. I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m overwhelmed. But mostly, I am wondering. Wondering how, in what seems like such a short period of time, I’ll be able to get married here . . .

In the region of Ontario we live in, this year has set many snow fall records since the white stuff started to come down back in November, so it seems almost impossible to me now, after being practically immersed in the stuff for five months, that it could ever be gone by the time we get married.

I mean I feel ridiculous about worrying about it, since I’m well aware of how seasons work, but somehow, knowing that we’re now in double digits, things just seem so close, so looking out and seeing all this snow makes me weirdly nervous. In many ways, I still feel like the wedding is miles away (I still have a million things to do), but this swinging over into serious countdown territory makes it seem kind of like it’s superclose and before I know it, I’LL BE GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW!

Unhinged but true, ladies - I am nervous about March snow for my June wedding. smiley4

I can’t be the only one going through this right now, so I’ve got to ask - what completely unreasonable thoughts have you had during your planing process? How did you deal with them?

just think about it like the sideview mirrors of your car: “objects appear closer than they actually are.” ha, though in all honesty, i’d probably be worrying about that myself.

my current completely unreasonable thought is that i will forget to do something huge, like book a florist or get my dress altered and then it will be days before the wedding until i realize what i forgot to do! we still have four and a half months to go, but time is flying and i am definitely not short on worries!

I used to be uber nervous about the weather but I just discovered that our venue has a wine cave (not as glamorous or mysterious as it sounds…basically an indoor open space with lots of wine barrels) gives me reassurance that come wind or rain we could always pack up and move indoors…so I’m thankful I can put my weather worries to rest, but I must say, that is the biggest worry because you have no control whatsoever!

I guess my new worry is my weight! hee hee. I gotta cut out the salt…i’m convinced its bloat ;) yeah right! But of course that is “controllable” so I cant freak out if I dont lose any more cause I’m too busy stuffing burritos in my face!

Well, it depends on the day…:) I’ve worried about everything, anything, and everything again. And will probably continue to do so until June 7th is over and done with!

I have worried about rain for my June wedding. In the last 10 years, it has not rained once on my date and Colorado is known for its lack of precipitation. I totally get it:)

I’m just across the lake in Rochester, and not being a native, I’m with you on the snow thing. I’m convinced that we’ll be six feet deep in snow in July. I’ve been having nightmares about it. My current recurring nightmare is we get a huge blizzard and I have to walk to my reception (which is 20 minutes away by car) and by the time I get there my dress is ruined!

I’m with you on the snow thing, too! I also get married in June (84 days!) and I’m in Chicago. We just got a huge dump of snow, and while I’m not concerned about whether or not it will go away, I do wonder if I need to buy some kind of coverup for my strapless dress (I chill pretty easily). And rain. Rain, too.

I live in Ontario too…Waterloo…and I share your snow worries….but my wedsing is in 5 weeks! 5 WEEKS! When we picked this day 7 months ago, I never imagined we’d still be under this much snow since previous years have been 20 degrees at that time!

I’m starting to panic a bit, but I’ve decided to hedge my bets and buy myself a nice warm wrap, just in case it’s still snowing on April 26th! Yikes! I might have to break out the Sorels!
