Happy Engagementversary!

March 24th, 2008 @ 2:42 pm by Mrs. Jasmine

Today marks one year since Mr. Jasmine and I were engaged! Technically we had two engagements: a private one in Millenium Park and an engagement ceremony with family two weeks later. We consider the family one our “official” engagement. I can’t believe it’s already been one year– it’s really flown by! And in just a couple short months, I’ll be Mrs. Jasmine! So exciting :)

We plan to celebrate by revisiting the location of our private engagement: a walk through Millenium Park followed by dinner at Bandera. For those of you who were engaged over a year: did you celebrate your engagementversary?

Mr beanchar is all about the “versaries”… he wants us to celebrate:

1) the anniversary of the day we met
2) our engagment anniversary
3) both our wedding anniversaries (US legal and Italian sentimental)

I am a little less concerned with the exact 365-day markers, but always happy to acknowledge another year of being thankful I found him! :)

Yes! FI proposed in Lafeyette Park, which is across from the White House. Afterwards, we walked down to the restaurant we frequented when we first started dating for a glass of champagne. On our anniversary, we went back to the Park to take pictures and then had a wonderful, leasuely dinner at the restaurant with all of our old favorites dishes. It was so romantic and fun, espcially since it was right before Christmas!

Nope, we didn’t celebrate our engagementversary unless registering at Kohl’s counts :-P (that was a mistake, boo to Kohl’s registry).

We did, however, celebrate our -1 wedding anniversary (aka - the 1 year countdown to the wedding). I made a romantic dinner of parmesean breaded chicken breast on top of fettucini & a mushroom ragú sauce. I also got a cake from the bakery that will be doing our wedding cake and it said 1 year ’til “I Do!”

Congrats Miss Jasmine! Sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate. We didn’t celebrate, but definitely acknowledged how quickly the time went by. I can’t believe we’re so much closer to the wedding now.

Wow, today is mine, too! I’m not sure if we’re doing anything, but it’s so nice to realize that I’m just as in love with him and dedicated to getting married as I was a year ago.

We did, though since our “engagement-versary” was also a mere day before the anniversary of our first date, and three days before Valentine’s day, it was kind of a combination celebration!

Um, sorry Miss Jasmine, but you are getting married in a *few* short months (June), while I am getting married in a *couple* short months (May) - if you’re a couple, that would make me one month less than that, which would mean one month, which would make me freak out more than I am…

:)

That said, happy engagementversary! We didn’t really celebrate ours, it kind of flew by us… I like to think that every day we plan this darned thing is like a celebration of our engagement… yeah… that’s it.

We definitely celebrated. We sort of re-enacted our engagement night by going back to the same restaurant, sitting in the same booth, and visiting the bench we were sitting on when he proposed. He even reproposed that night. It was awesome!

I am usually all about rekindling memories, but we BOTH forgot about our engagementversary until it was bedtime that night! Luckily our e-versary is 4 days before Valentine’s day, so our Valentine’s dinner kind of covered both celebrations!

We celebrated our -1 anniversary instead.
