About Mrs. Lovebug

The Sweetest Factory

March 24th, 2008 @ 6:36 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

A couture wedding gown, a string quartet, a garden full of peonies - of all the incredible details in store for our wedding, how weird is it that my favorite so far is the simplest and cheapest?

This is a handful of kiss stickers I whipped up to act as seals for the candy buffet bags. Just soft pink resume paper from Kinko’s printed in our secondary font (Urgent Telegram) in a medium grey (to evoke the look of a typewriter), punched in one-inch circles, and run through the Xyron sticker maker.

I think there’s something wrong with me. Because I just want to eat them right out of the bowl:

Also finito are the labels for the bags themselves:

I went back and forth about these babies forever. Kept changing the shape, design, colors. I originally had them in the same pink paper as the kiss seals, but then I realized that in white, they looked more like old school, hand-typed labels. Wedding theme power, activated!

This ended up entailing a bit of work, however, including the snipping of a zillion corners with a rounder punch and, of course, the requisite trip through the ol’ Xyron:

I kept the stickers low on the bag so they wouldn’t get scrunched down. The final look:

I probably made far more kiss/swak/mwah stickers than will ever be used. But they were just too yummy, I couldn’t stop. I guess I can always throw them on the back of my love letters… ;)

SO CUTE! Does the Xyron leave a backing on the sticker like you have shown or did you have to add that?

Laura: Michael’s!

Emily: yep, Xyron attaches them to the adhesive backing, and then you can cut them to keep them affixed as stickers, but in any shape you want.

The good bags for a beach wedding. What an idea. Have a Florida beach wedding and use this for the theme of the beach wedding.

Jhearta: I really am a fan of the Xyron machine (I have the 900). It’s come in handy for so many little details. You have to buy replacement cartridges for the paper, yes, but they have about 40 feet on them. I’d say go for it. It definitely helps you personalize with fun little touches. :)

I have had my sister’s xyron machine for months now and I have no plans of returning it. It is so useful. Get a 40% off coupon from Michaels and buy the machine and a cartridge. I have used it for my favor boxes, program covers, invitations and plan to make many more projects using it. Great investment and easy to use.

Love all your crafts and ideas. I’m sure we all want to see EVERY detail of your wedding!
I live in Germany and I’m German, therefore what does swak and mwah mean?

Yvonne - SWAK stands for “Sealed With A Kiss” and MWAH is the sound you make when you kiss someone. Another variation of it is muah!

So cute! I am doing a candy bar and was looking for how to do labels. These are such a basic question — but how did you set up your page on the resume paper, so that each word (swak, mwah, & kiss) was about an inch apart. And do you run each little circle through the sticker makers? I’m thinking of getting one after your cute labels.
