About Mrs. Tiramisu

The Whole Tiramisu Family

March 24th, 2008 @ 11:15 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

Having divorced parents who have both remarried, I had the unique situation of being involved in both my dad’s second wedding- as a flowergirl, and my mom’s second wedding- as maid of honor. Both ceremonies included nice touches about joining families together, and everyone remarked how lovely it was to include the kids. All of this being said, I have a few good reasons for not including my own kid in my wedding day plans.

What’s that? Didn’t know I had a kid? Well I think it is about time I introduced you to Duncan. Just about three years ago now, Mr. Tiramisu and I welcomed this little bundle of joy into our lives:

Oh did you think I meant a real kid? I can barely handle taking care of myself and a dog! Let’s hold off on that one for a few years, ok?

Anyway, I know that plenty of people include their pets in their weddings.

Duncan would look pretty spiffy in a doggy tuxedo, but it’s just not his thing. Having him there might be fun for us, but I’m pretty sure the little guy would be completely freaked out. He hates big crowds, is terrified of children, and would be much happier at home stalking my parents’ cats. We’re hoping to take him along to our engagement shoot in order to include him in the fun.

Don’t think Duncan can’t hang out in costume though- just check him out all decked out for the holidays (and note his general disgust with the whole idea, year after year).

Mr. Tiramisu will kill me when he sees these- he protests almost as much as Duncan does when I pull out the costumes.

Anyone else have just a little too much fun treating their pet like a human? Anyone going to take the plunge and dress your little guy up on your big day? Come on, show Mr. Tiramisu I’m not the only crazy one!

I *wish* we could include our kid Reily in our wedding. He’s a Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix and steals the show pretty much wherever he goes.

Unfortunately, Mr. Janger’s mom says dogs don’t belong in a church. Discrimination!

OMG so cute!! I think it would be awesome to have him in the wedding. I treat my cat like a human and cant wait to get a dog to spoil too. Seriously I want a Duncan, so cute.

@octoberwed: Duncan is a (way too big to be called miniature) minature schnauzer. Seriously, he was supposed to top out at 18, but he’s 27 pounds :)

I love schnauzers! They have such expressive faces! Maybe it’s those cute “eyebrows” and beard I love so much. I love that you kept his ears natural!

He is so FREAKIN adorable! I wish we could include our dogs (Lilo & Stitch, and Gordo), but the church won’t allow!

My little Hershey Kiss (shih tzu) will not be a part of the grand event, but i plan to get him a tux and take some pics with him before he’s shipped off to doggy daycare!

I wish we could have our 2 dogs in the wedding, but my mom is putting her foot down. Plus I’d need to figure out how to get them home after the ceremony.

Yay for miniature schnauzers! My “miniature” is also on the large side, 25lbs and shares Duncan’s disgust with costumes. =)

The first picture made me go “aww!”… his puppy picture actually looks a lot like my parent’s standard schnauzer when she was a puppy. :)

Duncan looks EXACTLY like my parents’ mini schnauzer. I LOVE HIM!!! It’s great when people leave the ears floppy, they have so much more character than the docked ears. And I’ve seen that “costume face” so many times…it’s hilarious to see it on another doggie :)

We aren’t allowed to have our English bulldog Lulu on the beach during the ceremony but I made a nice set of pearls with a pink bow for her to wear at all of the other weekend events (welcome party, brunch, etc.). Will definitely take some shots with her all dressed up before the ceremony too.

How have we not discussed this! We also have a miniature schnauzer, she’s almost the exact same coloring & it sounds like they have the same temperament. We must act like nerds and swap pictures at some point ;)

Aww, Miss Tiramisu, Duncan is such a cutie! People keep asking if we are gonna have our dogs in the wedding to which I respond, “hellz no!” They can barely make it down the street for a leashed walk. I don’t even want to imagine the havoc they would cause at the wedding! But I still love them.

Duncan would probably eat one of the flowergirls. Which I think might outweigh the cuteness of having him there. :)
