An Open Letter

March 25th, 2008 @ 4:24 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

Dear Perfect Blue Peep Toe Heels,

Hi. It’s me. I’ve been trying to contact you for quite some time now, and frankly, you’re really starting to get on my nerves. I fell in love with you so long ago, before I even found THE dress. In my mind I’ve pictured us together, enjoying the wedding, with you as that perfect detail that would surprise (just a little) and delight (hopefully) everyone who spotted you. I’ve looked for you in all the usual places, but you don’t hang out at zappos, shoes.com, endless, piperlime, or even nordstrom. Why must you continue to elude me? Was it something I said? I thought for sure I’d come across you in New York City, and spent a few of my precious shopping hours combing the flagship Macy’s store for you. Where are you hiding?!

In my dreams you are pale blue, but I wouldn’t hold antique blue, or the perfect shade of grey-blue against you. You have an adorable peep-toe, and you’re not too tall. I’ve set a budget for you, but I’m starting to get desperate here. If you show yourself, I might just be able to stretch the numbers a little.

I’ve been tempted by your close relatives, but none of them have quite met my lofty goals:

There’s too dark:

Too patent:

Too teal:

And just too much:

And there are countless others that I’ve tossed aside in search of you. So where are you shoes? I know you’re out there in your satin, light blue, elegant but totally fun perfectness. You have an important role to play as both the something blue and the something-the-bride-freaking-loves (besides the groom of course).

Can’t we be friends?

Love, Miss Tiramisu

Someone please help me out here. I’d rather not make a habit of writing letters to accessories.

I purchased the Nina Dyeable Electra for only $100! They are 2.25″ in heel height, a peep toe with partial D’Orsay wrap, and are dyeable. I plan on dying mine after the wedding.

You could get these and then dye them…?

It must be blue shoes in general, cause it was super hard for me to find my navy shoes too! I’ll keep my eyes out on some lovelies for you!

3.
minmin says:

You can always buy dyeables and dye them light blue…not as fun of course but you might be able to get exactly what you want.

That made me LOL.

It sounds like you’re looking for something similar to Miss Penguin’s wedding shoes!

plum-puddin says:

Hi Miss T!
When I read your post, I immediately thought of the shoes I got for my wedding. They are Touch-ups Nona.. Yes, you have to dye them, but they are oh so cute, peep-toe, and only a 2.5″ heel! I got mine at shoebuy.com and even used a coupon, so they are a steal! Gooood luck!

12.
plum-puddin says:

Ps… Here is a link for the Nona’s…

I LOVE the last pair of shoes! Where did you find them?

MagPie518 says:

No link suggestions from me (sorry!), but I can recommend DSW or a similar shoe “warehouse” where I scored smoky-blue Capparro’s satin peep toes last fall.

I want the color shoes Stephanie March wore in her wedding to Bobby Flay - they were the perfect pale blue.

just received them yesterday. they are super cute, though i’m debating removing that bow or not.

These are pretty awesome but in the UK. (The price doesn’t seem too high though even with shipping)

soontobemrsc-just realized you posted the same shoes i just bought!=) they are at cutesy shoes and are way cheaper than what you found on ebay.

23.
tberry says:

I know they aren’t by a fancy designer or even moderatly expensive but check these out. I think they are really cute and they are a mefium blue (maybe too blue?)

Caroline says:

Oh, Miss T, it’s not just you, and it’s not just blue! I’ve been searching for *green* heels to peek out from beneath my dress, and i’m having the exact same problem. I made the mistake of falling in love with a pair of killer, minimal kelly-green sandals by an Italian designer whose name i cannot even remember, and of course nothing i’ve found since even comes close. It’s heartbreaking — but lots of the links above are really cute, so good luck!!

27.
Brooke says:

I had the exact same problem!! I finally had to resign myself to a beautiful silver pair of Cynthia Rowley peep toe shoes I found at Off-Sax 5th Ave for $75 dollars. I could never find the perfect Tiffany Blue shoes. I hope you find them!

Stephanielee says:

I had the same problem too!

I almost started believing that I made a concept such as blue shoes up because I couldn’t find what I wanted. I even ordered “the pair” only to have them arrive as being far too green and teal. Disappointment reigned.

I settled for some dyables from David’s Bridal.

I ordered the Touch Ups Melissa and I am in LOOOOOOVE with them. They are WAY more comfortable than the two other pairs of Touch Ups I ordered (perhaps b/c the Melissa is a Liz Renee Couture BY Touch Ups style), and super cute. The heel is not too high, not too low, it’s a peep toe, and there is a pretty pearl/rhinestone details. You can dye them to match what you’re looking for!

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7395429/c/14.html

I know Dyeables get a bad rap, but don’t underestimate them. If you find the right ones, no one will know they didn’t come in that color! If you’re not dyeing them to be matchy-matchy (which was their original purpose), they’ll still be stunning and you can make them the exact color you want.

There are also some great dyeable options on http://www.myglassslipper.com/ — including Mrs. Onion’s to-die-for shoes: http://www.myglassslipper.com/products2.cfm/dept/SHOES/ID/3225

Good luck!

oh, and @Julieulie: here’s the link to that last pair: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/34354789/c/11003.html

beanchar says:

If your budget allows it, you could always “design your own” at That Couture: http://www.thatcouture.com

And Caroline, I hear you on the impossibility of finding green shoes! I ended up going a different route and getting mine hand-painted by this talented artist: http://clpstudio.com

48.
Lisanne says:

Check out eBay. I put in “blue satin” and found a few cuties!!!

misschickie — that site is actually shopstyle.com. and they have a home decor section too!

melodicsighs says:

i just wanted to comment on how at least four different people posted the same jcrew shoes - which are super cute, by the way.

and, miss t, with a note like that, the shoes would have to be absolutely heartless (or without a “sole” if you will… or not…) to not appear soon. good luck!

Josephine says:

Miss T, I don’t have any new recommendations for you but I just wanted to tell you how MUCH I FEEL YOU!!! For me, its for gold shoes! Oh your letter hit home for me and I love your last line. Got me LOL. haha! Good luck and keep us updated on your search!

54.
redvine says:

Wow, I had the exact problem and ended up going with some shimmery gold ones instead, but now all the posts have got me wound up to try out some of these choices! And here is a pair I almost wore, but the heel was too thin for me…

Aimee says:

I searched high and low for you and didn’t find much - everything seems to be too dark, considering it’s spring! - but I second, third, or whatever the dyed shoe idea. That is always the easiest route.

On another note - where did you find those teal heels with the rose cutouts? I must have!

Or you could get Kate Spade’s peep toes in white satin and dye them blue. I’m keeping them white (I would LOVE to dye them), but my mom is so against it.

I was on the SAME mission and have finally given up! I found some Stuart Weitzman peep toe heels with a bow on the top of the foot that are really cute. They had a big crystal stone on the bow but we removed it and are going to add some blue ribbon that I am in love with. So I’m getting half of what I wanted!
