Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).

What’s Her Name?

March 26th, 2008 @ 10:24 am by Mrs. Gingerbread

Dear Readers,I’m wading through the dozens of fabulous names you suggested for my wife-to-be. You sure are a creative bunch! Instead of responding to the 100+ comments I thought I’d better settle the great naming debate in its own post (it totally was not a debate, but you know what I mean).

Miss Gingersnap is cute (and a very popular choice!), but the name makes me think of the horror movie, Ginger Snaps. I’ve never watched it, but not only is there a sequel, there’s also a prequel! Scary!

Some other suggestions were DF/DW/DP, Miss Ginger, Mlle or Srta Gingerbread, Miss GB2, and Gingy.

Tracy offered Gingerbread 2.0 as a nod to my wife-to-be’s computer programmer side. Mrs. Lollipop pointed out, “Instead of your better half, you can call her your better version!” Aww, cute!

I asked DF/Mlle Gingerbread/Gingy/2.0 what she thought since I thought she should get to have a vote. She messaged me about the Gingerbread 2.0 suggestion saying “only thing i don’t like is that it just seems like i’m a better version of you cos i’m not y’know.. version 2 like windows 2000 is better than windows 95.” Haha. So geeky and so sweet, like what my better version would say. That settled it. She will be known as Miss GB 2.0 from here on out :)

Okay, now that we settled that I’ll get back to calling hotels and looking for the perfect shoes to match my dress.

And now I will have to find the movie… being a huge devotee of all things were. It actually seems to have gotten some good reviews on Amazon. You should give Miss GB 2.0 a big hug for being so sweet - and buy her a blanket, for heavens’ sake (I am still laughing about your comment on the registry post)!

Tracy says:

ROCK ON! I love it. (No bias of course!)

And 2.0 could always be a completely new version with backwards compatibility with 1.0 of course. :-)

(I am such a geek. Sorry.)

Hehe, but I like the Ginger Snaps movie. The prequel and sequel stunk but the first is awesome. Especially since Lucy Lawless does a voiceover. Anyway, I’m drifting. lol

I love the name you chose. :D

my script writing prof in university worked on ginger snaps and would not stop talking about how awesome he was to work for “such a monumental canadian film”. as a result, i could never watch the film without wanting to punch that guy in the face…. so… i’m totally glad you went with the GB2.0 route :)

I love Ginger Snaps! It’s my favorite werewolf movie ever. I do not recommend the sequel though.. I guess the prequel is all right.

Welcome Miss Gingerbread & Miss G.B. 2.0.
