About Miss Lovebird

I hate my groomsmen!!! Just kidding… or am I? Hehe~ it’s a love/hate thing. I think the problem is not only are they Mr. Lovebird’s closest friends and high school buddies, they happen to be my high school pals as well. Maybe that’s why I’m having such a hard time with them - they think they can push little Miss Lovebird around just because we’ve all been friends for over a decade! Just because you made me cry in high school doesn’t mean you are allowed to now…. yes George, I’m talking to you!

Sometimes I wonder if other brides have the same issue of uncooperative groomsmen when the groomsmen don’t know the bride well. I feel like my groomsmen would have a harder time saying “no” or voicing their opinions if they didn’t know me so well.

So after months of emails back and forth, countless suggestions and negative responses, the guys finally have part of their outfit down. I have to say that our best man, Ernie, was a huge help. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him. Last week, he organized for me and most of the groomsmen to meet at Charles Tyrwhitt on Madison Avenue and we picked these out. They are having their Midseason Sale, so check them out if you are still looking to dress the boys.

I’m so relieved we got that out of the way. At one point, I was frustrated to the point where I was going to threaten them with this!

In the end though, I feel very fortunate to have these guys stand up there with us. Even though they sometimes piss me off to no end, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve actually known all of them longer than I’ve known my bridesmaids. We go way back… back to when we had braces and danced with each other at Sweet Sixteens. Why oh why aren’t you nicer to me??? silly Maybe I should post embarrassing pictures of them from back in high school. Who wants to see and get to know my punk groomsmen better???

Anyone else want to vent about their beloved bridal party?

I’ve a dozen or so Charles Tyrwhitt shirts (and a jacket I think, too)
Fantastic quality, stylish, and top-notch. Your guys will look fantastic.

Oh bridal party…

My entire bridal party is pretty far flung: fiance and I in one part of Michigan with two of the groomsmen, then the MOH and a bridesmaid on the other side of Michigan, a bridesmaid in Chicago, the last bridesmaid in northern Ohio and the last groomsmen and Best Man in Southern Ohio. This makes coordinating ANYTHING a huge pain in the ass. And, unfortunately, is making some people feel left out of the procedings. For example, my bridesmaids are planning a bachelorette/dress shopping date in Chicago at the end of April. It’s the only time the Chicago-based ‘maid is going to be able to go dress shopping with me. But the bridesmaid in northern Ohio (who, to make everything just a little more complicated, is the sister of my fiance) is going to still be in school at that time, so she doesn’t get to take part in the big group festivities. I however just found out about that detail last night, when it’s too late to change the plans, since I’ve already got the time off of work and everything. Waaaaaaaaaay too much stress surrounding a trip that’s supposed to be fun!

Wow, I rambled a little bit there. Thanks for letting me vent!

We’ve got a huge wedding party (11 Best Men) and 10 Maids of Honor!!) and while since being engaged, they haven’t all been in the same place at the same time, they’ve all been pretty great about everything…The men didn’t complain at all about the suit my hub chose (at least not to us ;) and the ladies have all been moving along nicely with getting their dresses (black dresses of their own choosing within certain parameters). I expected the men to say something about all being dressed the same or having to spend the money…so far not a word. 2 months left until the wedding though…hopefully it all stays smooth sailing until then…and maybe we’ll get everyone in the same place before then….then again, maybe not!

I have set very low standards for the groomsmen, so I’m not expecting much out of them (they’re good people, it’s just that I’ve seen them as groomsmen for other weddings, and they are utterly useless!).

My problem right now is my bridesmaids — they’ve had their BM dresses since November, and only my MOH has bothered to try hers on and let me know that it fits. I’ve emailed, called, begged and pleaded, and I keep getting the “Oh, I don’t feel like trying it on…” excuse. If they don’t fit and they find out now, I can try to find different sizes.
At this point, if they don’t want to cooperate, then a dress that is too small is their own fault, and THEY have to figure out on their own how they are going to match everyone else walking down the aisle. I wash my hands of the problem!

A little off subject, but where did you find the tuxedo t-shirts? I have been looking for them to order for the groomsmen to change into at the reception (after formal photos). This is one of the better one’s i have seen so far!
