There are many girls out there who can do wonders to themselves with a brush and a mascara wand: but I’m not one of them. I barely ever even wear make-up, as purely evident I’m sure from my many “regular” photos on this blog, and I always just throw my hair back in a pony tail. That’s why I knew I’d need a village if I wanted to end up looking anything like this on wedding day:

Okay, maybe not a village, but at least one or two people. In my case, these people were the talented crew of the South Beach Makeup Studio. Here’s the owner Amy Palma, bless her, who worked on my lips endlessly to try and hide the hideousness that was the cold sore I got two or three days before the wedding (I believe my photographers have “helped” hush-hush that monster, too. No way it wasn’t humongous):
And I never imagined my neck and chest would receive this kind of detailed attention:
The final product:
As you can see, I did in fact decide last minute to go with the side swept/pulled back hair instead of my loosey-goosey look from the trial. Readers, I know many of you preferred that other look, but all my girls with me that day just agreed that it wasn’t “me,” so I just went with it.
My favorite moments at that point? My best man looking on as I checked the progress and my dad seeing me for the first time:
