Mrs. Petunia, Ft. Lauderdale Age and Occupation: 31, College Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Engineering Student/Part-time Barista Engagement Date: December 8, 2006 Wedding Date: March 2, 2008 Venue: Riverside Hotel Blogging Since: August 6, 2007 About Me: Our original idea of running off to get married quickly turned into an event with 100+ guests once other people got involved and I, too, got swept away in the lovely madness that is wedding planning. Mr. Petunia and I are obsessed with all things World of Warcraft, Monopoly, and Nintendo, so we’re planning on including some fun “game-y” details into our wedding.
About Mrs. Petunia

There are many girls out there who can do wonders to themselves with a brush and a mascara wand: but I’m not one of them. I barely ever even wear make-up, as purely evident I’m sure from my many “regular” photos on this blog, and I always just throw my hair back in a pony tail. That’s why I knew I’d need a village if I wanted to end up looking anything like this on wedding day:

Okay, maybe not a village, but at least one or two people. In my case, these people were the talented crew of the South Beach Makeup Studio. Here’s the owner Amy Palma, bless her, who worked on my lips endlessly to try and hide the hideousness that was the cold sore I got two or three days before the wedding (I believe my photographers have “helped” hush-hush that monster, too. No way it wasn’t humongous):

And I never imagined my neck and chest would receive this kind of detailed attention:

The final product:

As you can see, I did in fact decide last minute to go with the side swept/pulled back hair instead of my loosey-goosey look from the trial. Readers, I know many of you preferred that other look, but all my girls with me that day just agreed that it wasn’t “me,” so I just went with it.

My favorite moments at that point? My best man looking on as I checked the progress and my dad seeing me for the first time:

You know what, I “voted” on the loose hair look, and I gotta say I’m glad that you went with what you thought was “more you.” You looked absolutely fabulous!

Gorgeous, gorgeous!! And for anyone else with a hideous cold sore problem (I tend to get them when stressed, and when I’ve been out in the sun too much and forgot my good SPF lip stuff) get your doctor or dentist to write you a prescription for Acyclovir. Its magic. You take it three times a day when your lip just starts to feel tingly, for about four days, and you never even get the cold sore.

ahh, lovely. you look amazing. i have been worried about getting a cold sore, and am so glad to see it can be so wonderfully hidden… that may just be the very thing that convinces me to pay someone to make me up.

and suzanno, thanks for the tip - i will have to look into this acyclovir.

I think that you just sealed the deal for me, there is no way I could possibly do my own makeup after seeing that glamour shot of yours! Airbrushing is the way to go. You look flawless!

You know, I don’t know if I have any real good close-up shots of the back…but I think perhaps you will be able to see it better in other pictures later on? I’ll have to e-mail my hair person — I think she took some shots like that!
