Gettin’ Girlied Up…

March 28th, 2008 @ 4:21 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

….. for them E-pics which seems we’ve been waiting eternity for.

Next weekend, Mr. CB and I finally take our epics with Scott Robert. Check out his last esession for Angie and Jon. They are one good looking couple!!! I hope we’ll look as hot, fun, and fierce as them!

I can’t wait but then I realized, man I’m cutting it kind of close and I’m still not sure about the outfits and locations we want to epic in!!! Need yo help ladies!

Excuses excuses for my shardiness but we took this in like 5 mins after I woke up from a nap.

Ignore the little hair funk I got coming out of the left side of my face in the hair up version of these two pics. YIKES!

Gap Convertible Aline Dress paired with Bandolino Gordona Pumps

or maybe it’d look better with these Bow Slides from Gap

I also wanted a third more casual fun outfit with tops like these from Abercrombie paired with jeans and some adorable flats I got from Aldo.

s138536656.jpg s138536647.jpg

So what do you think? Hair or hair down? What about the dresses and the shoes? I’m a little iffy about the pumps with the white dress. Got suggestions? How many outfits/changes did you do for your esession? How about locations? I’m clueless as of now. Need YOOO help chicas!

From these tiny pictures my vote would be for the white dress/hair down combination as the most flattering. And I like the pumps with the dress.

I haven’t done e-pics, but I would think as long as you don’t go over the alloted time you can change as much as you want.

I want all the shoes. I like the second dress on you better, and even though I love the Bandolino shoes, I think it will look better with the Gap shoes. I would go with the pink top rather than the green one for the casual outfit–the print in the green top could be odd in a photo. However, then you’d be in two strapless outfits, and my preference for the white dress exceeds my recognition of the print no-no rule for pictures. Re: your hair–how about down w/ one outfit; up with another?

We did two outfits and two locations.

i say white dress/hair down/bandolino pumps!
i think the white dress will look nicer in pictures instead of just black. i also think that the pumps would make for great shoe shots! :)

haha first i read the title as “gettin’ grilled up” and i was like “miss cherry blossom is buying a grill?”

i am with snmcdowell, I like the black dress and hair down picture best too! You look so pretty and more youthful (in a good way) with your hair down.

I like both dresses– could you fit both of them into the shoot? To complicate things further, I like hair down with the white dress, but up with the black, so in my vision, you do a little on-the-fly hairdressing too!

If you do both, I’d go for the casual knotted flats with the white and the black & white pumps with the black to give it a little kick.

You’re going to have to come up with something pretty wacky to answer Pengy’s stiletto-jump challenge, but I know you’ve got it in you CB! ;) (Just make sure you have pretty undies on…)

@beanchar: good one beanchar, i dont know if i can top pengy’s pics man. that was truly awesome but she did suggest haight to be a awesome spot for one of our locations.

i was planning to do 3 outfits. my gfs said the black looks too businessy …. not cocktail enough. tough choices.

and yes on the fly up and down do’s would work just not sure what with each.

thanks for the suggestions yalls, keep em coming.

I agree, white dress/hair down. Not sure on the shoes (I’m not a shoe person).

As for locations, you’re looking for spots in/near SF right? My husband and I did our 1-year anniversary pics at Baker Beach, which has an awesome Golden Gate view, plus it’s a beach. There are some great spots up on the dunes there for pics as well.

Another one I saw in my photographer’s portfolio was Muir Woods. LOTS of beautiful pics in the trees/meadows/etc.

There’s always Golden Gate Park, the Palace of Fine Arts, or Chrissy Field as well, depending on what type of look you’re going for. I always wanted to take pics in the North Beach area - cute restaurants and coffee shops and such.

I’ve also seen some great ones from the Berkeley Marina, if you want to venture that direction. There are SO many great photo ops in the Bay Area!!! I love living here.

I really like the black dress in the stock photo, b/c the lighting shows the interesting details. In your photo, it looks very black and severe, not too much fun for epics! But your photographer should know a thing or two about lighting to make it look great! I vote for black dress & hair-up =)

I like black dress and hair up show more of your face. Since it’s spring time you should find a more colorful dress i.e yellow, pink, or light green
but that’s only my suggestion

anthropologie - http://www.anthropologie.com has some nice dressing for the spring season

My favorite that suites you is this one

http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=8141416615875963493&id=730167&parentid=APP_DRESS_SOLID&pushId=APP_DRESS_SOLID&popId=APP_DRESSES&sortProperties=%2BmarketingPriority%2C-saleDate&navCount=15&navAction=poppushpush&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=gol

you’ll be smoking hot in this one

Actually I like black dress hair up - but it sounds like any way you go will be a winner. What do you love?

Definitely hair down - so sexxy ;-) All the outfits look good but I think a punch of color would give it more oomph - shoes, sash, necklace, flower in hair, you get the picture.

Black dress, hair half up, half down! How’s that for mixing it up? :-)

I like the white dress, it’s cute, but white doesn’t photograph as well. Wedding dresses aside… I say go for black… timeless.

Casual tops are cute, go for the non-trapless one… usually more flattering and has more interesting details closer to your face.

Have fun and don’t be afraid to be goofy!

I love the white dress. Makes you look summery and semi-bridal at the same time. And actually, the black and white shoes don’t look bad at all. Its a nice contrast from wearing all white shoes.

Don’t ask me why, but I vote for hair up. Hair down kind of hides all your features.

good luck! can’t wait to see all the pics! *squeal!*

i love the 2nd shirt, the non-strapless one.

Definitely WHITE dress and hair down. The black dress does like business attire.

White dress, hair down, with the pumps.

I think that combo makes you look the most “engagement” like :)

I LOVE the bow slides…and def the white dress (although if you are doing pics outside you have to be careful of grass stains)…I think the white dress with the slides would be super cute…but go with the pumps if you feel prettiest in them :-)

I prefer the black dress just cause I think the white strapless is too plain and casual. No matter what definitley wear your hair down. And of the two shirts at the bottom, go with the one with the lacy straps- that’s a nice detail that will look good in photos. I like the pink of the strapless one but it really looks more like something you’d wear at the beach…not nice enough.

to me, the white one looks a little sheer in your photos - id definitely watch out for that. i like the black better even if the white isnt see through, and i think it would be nice to have pics of you NOT in a white dress, since you’ll have so many of those from the wedding.

Our e-pics are in two weeks and I don’t know what to wear either!

Both dresses look great on you! My dad’s a photographer & is always stressing darker colors will always photograph better. It’s not just that they’re “slimming”, but that they create a “sharper” line to the eye that wont blend to the background. So for that reason, since you’re looking at dresses and not all two-piece outfits, I’d swing towards black…

I loved the photos of Angie & John too. I love how their outfits are simple, but Angie’s accessories “pop” without taking over. Maybe you could do an amazing necklace or earrings?

I suggest the GAP dress w/the satin shoes. I think it’s a great combination!

I love both dresses, but I think the Gap one is the best for epics. But a small suggestion… bring the hem up. From the pictures, it looks like you’re on the short side (me too!), and I’ve found that raising the hem also raises the cute-factor. Use the models as a guide for where the dress should hit. The white dress should be mid-knee (or higher!). Just my two cents. Have fun!

i like the white dress, hair down. its more fun and casual and i like epics that look more fun since its a contrast from formal bridal portraits.

I think the second duo would be better for your pictures. It’s fresh and sweet.

BTW, I really love your invitations, especially the cherry blossom branches. I’m getting married pretty close to Chinese New Year in 2009 and would love to use those graphics (I think it might be two seperate ones, or perhaps the washed out one is just a zoomed and cropped version?). Would you mind sharing? Or letting me know where you found it? I’ve been searching google images, but cannot find the “right” one.

I guess I’m really happy about the wedding date I chose, too because cherry blossoms are in full bloom and I worked it out with my florist to have six beautiful archways made of cherry blossoms for the entrance of the church and the entrance to my reception.

Thanks for your help! Good luck with your pictures!
