T G I Foto Friday

Poor grooms. They barely get any attention. I know I haven’t given much thought to Mr. Tiramisu’s attire, let alone his boutonniere. Here are some pretty (handsome?) ones for you to consider, and a few fun alternatives.

Who gets to make the groom attire decisions- you or him?

Mostly him, although as with most things we consult with each other. But he is terribly opinionated about clothing - at least about his - so luckily he has really good taste. On a day-to-day basis he dresses much better than I do - wears dress pants, dress shirt and tie to work every day, and he has some really nice clothes. He will be buying a nice suit for the wedding, because apparently he has been looking for a good excuse to buy one for years. If only Nordstrom gave frequent flyer miles.

It took several months worth of Bride and Bloom magazines boutonniere spreads for him to find one he actually likes, but thank heavens the decision is made. I’m sure that signicantly less thought will go into my bouquet.

Suzanno—Go to e-miles.com and you can sign up to earn frequent flyer miles. I do it and you get different ads from different businesses. All you have to do is take a short (3 question normally) survey afterwards then you get 5-10 miles. Then some stores such as Nordstrom, Circuit City, etc. Will then allow you to go to their website and make purchases to receive miles. Once you earn the miles it usually takes a month or so for them to transfer to whichever frequent flyer miles program you are enrolled in. You should definitely check it out. I’ve been using it for over a year now and it works beautifully. Again the website is http://www.e-miles.com

Hope that helps

He does - we met with our florist to talk about all the options - for my bouquet, for the ladies, corsages for the mom/grandmothers, and bouts for the gents.

He was very particular about what he wanted and made all the decisions about what he and his groomsmen are wearing.

He jokes that my bridesmaids are lucky to have me as their bride - I’m not picky on their accessories at all. He’s a control freak about the pocket square, tie, shoes, and bout!

Hmm - I’d say it depends on what he’s like. If it were me, it would probably go something like this: I give him four choices, and he picks his favorite. And then everyone is happy!

he’ll be handling the ultimate decisions on the attire since he has a lot more exacting tastes than i do [though my wardrobe has improved thanks to him] but i know he’d consult with me before picking something. other than that, he considers flowers a girly thing so that’s my job.

I saw this great boutoniere somewhere (I can’t remeberb where) that was a nautical not tied from red & white striped rope. It was adorable and manly at the same time. I’m seriously considering it because I can make them way ahead, they won’t cost $20 a head (with 7 groomsmen, our 3 Dads and FI it really adds up) to have someone else make them as I originally considered. Since I am doing my own flowers, it will save me a lot of stress in the days before my wedding. (I did them for a wedding I was a bridesmaid in and they kept coming back for more. They take longer to make than the bride’s bouguet did and she had 7 different kinds of flowers and greenery and pearls lined up the front of the wrap.

If you ask him, he will make the decision. But I have the better taste so I will probably go with him and let him think he is making it. :)

i plan to show my FH pics and let him make the final decision.

I want his personality to show thru his attire, so….as long as he doesnt pick something out that clashes, then I’ll stay silent.

I had thought we wouldn’t do tuxes, but that’s what he wanted, so fine. I let him loose in the tux shop while I read the massive stack of bridal magazines they conveniently had next to the comfy chair, and what he picked looked great. We got home from the mall with a picture of what he’d picked, and no one would believe he’d done it himself.

I really like the idea of a pin boutonniere. Think about how many people your men will be hugging. That equals a flat and sad looking flower pinned to his tux. At least with a nice pin, it can become an heirloom.
