Wedding Blog
This weekend was a busy one for the Penguin crew! We drove down to Los Angeles to finally meet our photographer, the ridiculously awesome Sarah K Chen. Southern California has an incredibly talented pool of photographers, and we were so so SO lucky to have snagged Sarah! I had instant friend crush when I met her, and we’re fortunate to have a photographer that not only is AMAZING, but truly makes us feel comfortable in front of a camera.
There is a lot of debate on whether or not to take engagement pictures. Having taken them now I realize that it is really an experience that couples should have, especially if they’re included in your package! It’s really great to have been able to meet and work with our photographer before our wedding date. Having gotten to know her and her shooting style is something that will really pay off on our wedding day, I think!
Anyhoo, girl is working overtime on the weekends because I came home to a big ol’ post full of hot pics from this Saturday posted on Sarah’s blog!
Sarah pretty much blew my mind with these pictures, and there are a bunch more posted on her blog. You can hardly tell I refreshed my makeup, glued on some fake-o eyelashes and got gussied up in the bathroom of a sports bar during half time of the UCLA/Xavier Elite 8 game, can you?

@melbride: Hee hee, no freakin way. I hit up the Bobbi Brown makeup counter over at Westside Pavillion earlier in the day. I did glue on my own eyelashes though…I’ve got a pair from MAC that I’ve reused several times. Fakey eyelashes are my favorite “accessory” 
Two sets of engagment pics? Awesome! I hope I can get just a few that look half as good as yours out of our session!
@valeqt: so funny you mention the dress! I had a major freakout last minute and went with that old purple dress from my closet! I have about $1K (thats right you heard me) in returns to make now on clothes that I ordered from the net intending to possibly wear for the e-shoots and i ended up going with clothes out of my closet Only the light purple silk top was new (BCBG)
The brand of the dress is “Aqua” and its a couple years old from Bloomingdales in Minneapolis. (Dont you hate when designers have too normal sounding names?) I googled the style number but came up with nothing 
@emily: Those pictures were with a photographer that I grew up with, Travis Hoehne. He is an old friend from my hometown and I called him to shoot my wedding but he was unavailable for my date so we just shot engagment pictures with him instead!
Pengy - where did you have your shoot done in L.A. ? Maybe I missed where you made mention?

That purple dress is stunning on you! And your make-up is splendiforous.
@MissMandy: The first few pics we took at the Getty Center, then the second set we took on the UCLA campus. Really great places for shots!
Ooh, you braved the Getty Center! Lucky, you! I know that sometimes they “spy” photogs and their brides there and ask you to leave. They’re picky that way.

@MissMandy: I totally heard that too! We just committed to snapping pics till we got kicked out but we were fortunate enough to be there when there was some sort of HUGE event going on. There were masses of people, so none of the security was really paying attention. If any of you are thinking about going up to the Getty, check their schedule and if they have cultural celebrations going on, then you might consider going up on those days. There is too much commotion going on for the security to care about E pic takers.
