I Love Lamp

April 1st, 2008 @ 3:07 pm by Mrs. Bubblegum

I usually can’t get through a day without Mr. BG quoting Anchorman by saying, “I love lamp.” For some reason, on this particular day, it got me thinking about one’s love for lamps and how this might translate into centerpieces (one-track mind lately, or what?). I know that candle centerpieces are popular and beautiful, so why not a beautiful lamp? And, depending on how you do it, couldn’t this be an affordable alternative? So for your viewing and planning pleasure, here are some fun lamps:

I thought this site had some very cool ideas. Some aren’t even lamps but just happen to have lampshades!

This lampshade from etsy is super neat - what if this was your alternative to a slideshow??

Or this one, also from etsy, for a bird-themed wedding?

This one from Ikea is cute AND cheap:

And this one from Ikea is just freakin’ cool:

If it were me, I think I’d probably mix it up - just spend a bunch of time searching for really cool lamps, and have a different lamp at every table - maybe like this mixture here from Ebay?

Of course - the one hang-up I have with this idea is, how do you plug them in? So has anyone out there done this? How did it work out??

OMG. my bro’s wedding had tiffany buffet lamps with flowers coming out under the brim - absolutely gorgeous. As a touch, we got 8 floor lamps to match to use down the aisle of the cathedral he was married at.

I wish I could find a picture for you. Email me - I might be able to send it to you, or set up a link for a picture.

oooo! Great idea! I have no idea how you would plug them in. Even power strips and extension cords could be dangerous.

Maybe you could find battery adapters, is there such a thing?

I’ve seen candle holders with lampshades - maybe it’s possible to adapt a regular lamp into a candleholder?

Check these out, I think they’re the cutest things but don’t think I’m going to be able to incorporate them :-(

My favorite wedding-related lamp is this one from pottery barn:

You could use it as a centerpiece or wish bowl, and then have a completely functioning lamp after the wedding.

Just a thought for everyone to think about. My grandma’s eyesight is slowly deteriorating and has been for a few years, so it’s fairly poor now, so we’re going to find a small lamp to place at her table since the light really helps for when she’s eating etc. If you have anyone in a similar situation this could be your chance to incorporate a cute lamp!

miss bubblegum - i’m doing the same thing with using table lamps as centerpieces. i got the idea from old 20’s and 30’s jazz clubs (and even the cool “featured wedding” shown here with that whole vintage feel thing).

in order to use table lamps as centerpieces you have to use special restaurant lamps that don’t use plugs. here are a few examples:

please email me if you find any other resources for these centerpiece lamps!
