About Mrs. Cherry Pie

Hi From Miss Cherry Pie!

April 2nd, 2008 @ 11:12 am by Mrs. Cherry Pie

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I can’t wait to start sharing our wedding plans so far. Because we’re only five months out (yikes!) we’ve got some major catching up to do. You can expect quite a bit of back-story from me over the coming days and weeks to get you all up to speed, interspersed with bits of the here and now.

By way of an introduction, let me tell you a little about myself, Mr. Cherry Pie, and our pending nuptials. We’ve been together for nearly 8 years since we met during my senior year of high school. HOW we met is another (convoluted and awkward) story entirely, and I might get into that a bit later.

First, I picked the name “Miss Cherry Pie” because Cherry Pie is the mister’s absolutely faaaaavorite dessert. Sometimes I wonder if he’d leave me for an infinite supply of pies. In fact, he loves cherry pie so much that we’re going halfsies on the wedding desserts and supplementing our cake with cherry tartlets.

Aside from eating way too much dessert, we’re both avid outdoorspeople– we love hiking and backpacking. Mr. CP… err, let’s call him Mr. Cherry so as not to be confused with Mr. Cream Puff… is also very into rock climbing and I’m a 2-time marathoner and running fanatic. We get plenty of wilderness time because Seattle is so close to the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges, but consider our yearly trip to Glacier National Park as the pinnacle of the summer season.

This is us on our ’07 Glacier trip all schweaty and rugged and stuff.

We’ve been engaged since August 2006 and we spent a lot of that time fantasizing about, rather than planning our wedding. Suddenly, it’s time to get down to business! We’re planning an outdoor tented wedding in Polebridge, Montana, a tiny town just outside Glacier National Park.

We’re asking a lot of our guests to make this journey, but most of our families are based on the East Coast or Midwest, so they’d have to make quite the trip out to Seattle even if we were to do a local wedding. By getting married in Montana, we have the opportunity to share a place that is truly special to us while celebrating our journey together. Plus, how cool is it to plan a rustic wedding in the “middle of nowhere” set against THIS backdrop?

Expect more to come very, very soon as I fill you in on our engagement and venue. I look forward sharing all of our ambitious planning escapades!

gji7- Thanks so much for the offer! I’ll let you know if I need any help. We’re cheating a little bit by using a wedding planner in Missoula who is super awesome. I get to do all of the creative stuff and she gets to make the phone calls for me. HAHA. :D

AMK - No way! That’s super serendipitous. :) I’ve been blogging for a loooong time (since 2000) so it’s awesome to run into a reader from back when.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I’ve got a bunch of posts lined up for you.

Cherry, I totally did that the first time I logged in after being Bee-fied!

That scenery makes me want to go camping. And quit my job. And live in a tree. I’m so jealous.

I’m not sure WHY– as I am not what you would call a connoisseur of 90’s hair bands– but whenever I read your name this:

runs through my head for the next hour. ;)

I second the cheers for the outdoorsy brides! I am also a marathoner and a climber (I got into climbing because of the FI) and we are also getting married in the mountains. However, your site is way more breathtaking. I am excited to see your wedding pictures! Are you going with a more rustic theme?

Welcome Miss Cherry Pie. Your name is so cute and fun to say! I wish you were getting married in Seattle so that I could steal all of your fun inspiration, but I love the location that you chose, it’s just breathtaking. I will be following along with all of your fun posts!

Haha, now I have that Cherry Pie song stuck in my head. (NOTE: I also love playing this song on Guitar Hero.)

Yes, we’re going for a more rustic theme, to match the NW Montana ambiance. I’ve got a raw silk gown and I’m wearing cowboy boots underneath. But I don’t want to give away too much too soon!

Wow. Except for the SO being in a different city, your story and mine are eerily similar, right down to the jilted best friend. We’ve been together since my senior year as well, and, as a result just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We’ll be “official” in October! Are you getting loads of “it’s about time!”s as well??? Can’t wait to hear more about your planning.
