About Mrs. Lovebug

For anyone sick of looking at my dress, I truly apologize. But I’m pretty sure blogging about the first fitting is in my Weddingbee contract. I’d hate to get canned this close to the wedding. How embarrassing would that be?

I’ve blogged briefly about Destiny’s Bride in Scottsdale, and I want to reiterate what a fantastic experience it’s been dealing with them. The staff has been super friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They even stayed open an hour past closing for me, to give me plenty of time to drive up.

Head seamstress Rose and her assistant work their magic, tightening the beaded straps of Camilla–er, my gown. I blogged a while back about my nervousness re: the bustline. I was afraid the dress was sitting dangerously low across the Lovejugs. Also, the heavy beaded straps were murdering my shoulders. But once they’d pinned it in at the waistline and taken up the straps, it made a huge difference in how it looked and felt:

But don’t let this smile fool you. I was completely devoid of oxygen. Kindly look how close the dress is pinned. They took in about three precious, desert-thwarting inches. Meaning no double-cheeseburger-plain-meal-large-size-with-coke for Lovebug anytime soon. Boo.

Rose laughs at some devastatingly clever thing I said. Can’t remember what, specifically.

This is where it got interesting. I was informed that my bustle has ELEVEN POINTS to it that need to be pinned after the ceremony. Eleven. Meaning I have to hire a team of dwarves to swoop in and scramble underneath my gown and start frantically pinning so I can go take photos. I guess they don’t have to be frantic, really. I just think that if I’m going to hire a team of dwarves and all, they should be industrious. Am I wrong?

Bustle McBustleton. And finally, a shot of the detail:

At the last second, I remembered to try on my necklace with the dress. You can’t see it very well, but it’s a crystal and pearl lariat with a low dip in back that you just sort of knot and let hang down past your shoulders.

And though he managed to stay completely out of the pictures, thanks to my photog-for-a-day, Marcus!

Wow. I’m getting married in two and a half weeks.

Now that is a statement dress! And that statement is something along the lines of “one smokin’ hot bride coming down the aisle, stand and be amazed” :)

Seriously beautiful dress. And the 11-point bustle is totally worth it.

I sooooooo love your dress, it is beautiful and you look absolutely stunning!!!

My dress had a 14-point bustle and I had just 1 attendant to do the job. Thankfully my Aunt walked by while my MOH was trying to get all the bustle points, in the correct order, while we were “hiding” in a doorway in the parking lot. Obviously not a well thought out plan on my part.

Definately blog about the jewelry. And your dress is fantastic - and incredibly bustley, in a wonderful way. You look great!

Rather than dwarves, I think elves. Just because there’s potential in the eleven/elven juxtaposition. Not to say dwarves wouldn’t do a fine job–I’m sure they would, as would pixies…although not imps…anyway, yeah, not anti-dwarf, just pro-elf.

You look stunning! Good luck with the whole bustle situation… I have not yet been the one being “bustled about”, but I was the one doing the bustling at my best friend’s wedding last month. Low lighting + microscopic hooks the same color as the gown + being a little tipsy = bustling chaos. :) Aside from that, a few of her hooks came off and she ended up somehow rigging her bustle to her underwear with a borrowed removable bra strap from a friend… yikes! Hope it goes MUCH more smoothly for you!

I love, love, love your dress. Dang, it’s beautiful…and you rock it. I only had three bustle points, but there’s a great photo of my mom under my dress trying to find where they go.

Oh, and dessert is stressed spelled backwards. :)

You look amazing! That dress fits you absolutely perfectly and you have a great figure! I’m not sure how many points my dress has yet as I go pick it up next week, but my seamstress said it took her five hours to do. So yeahhhh.

Your dress looks great!!! I would love to know where you got your necklace from, my dress has low cowls in the front and back, and I want a necklace that looks good from both sides!

Any info you can pass along would be great!
Thanks!

Please make sure to get a pic of whichever minion (diminutive or not) ends up going up your skirt to pull off that bustling masterpiece!

As always, you look A-MAZING and I can’t wait to see the total package “in situ.”

LOVE your dress! You make the pink look fabulous - it’s traditional, but not too much. Soooo pretty.

Gorgeous! I love that you went with a blush colored dress! That is such a flattering and beautiful color, but I’ve seen so many brides *not* use it (even though it looks good) because it’s not “traditional”.

Your husband is gonna ball like a baby when he sees you walking down the aisle :-)

Wow. What an amazing thing to wake to (what?! brides need their sleep). Seriously, thanks loads and loads everyone. Totally makes having taken all spring and summer to pay it off worth it.

I actually went through a brief “oh my god, did I really like it THAT much?” period after I ordered it…and even when I first got it, when it wasn’t fitted to me. For some reason I got all weird about it and wasn’t even sure if I LIKED it anymore.

Thank you guys for yet again making me feel so fantastic. Hopefully I can remember these incredibly sweet comments every time the Oreos call for the next two weeks… :)
