For anyone sick of looking at my dress, I truly apologize. But I’m pretty sure blogging about the first fitting is in my Weddingbee contract. I’d hate to get canned this close to the wedding. How embarrassing would that be?
I’ve blogged briefly about Destiny’s Bride in Scottsdale, and I want to reiterate what a fantastic experience it’s been dealing with them. The staff has been super friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They even stayed open an hour past closing for me, to give me plenty of time to drive up.

Head seamstress Rose and her assistant work their magic, tightening the beaded straps of Camilla–er, my gown. I blogged a while back about my nervousness re: the bustline. I was afraid the dress was sitting dangerously low across the Lovejugs. Also, the heavy beaded straps were murdering my shoulders. But once they’d pinned it in at the waistline and taken up the straps, it made a huge difference in how it looked and felt:
But don’t let this smile fool you. I was completely devoid of oxygen. Kindly look how close the dress is pinned. They took in about three precious, desert-thwarting inches. Meaning no double-cheeseburger-plain-meal-large-size-with-coke for Lovebug anytime soon. Boo.
Rose laughs at some devastatingly clever thing I said. Can’t remember what, specifically.
This is where it got interesting. I was informed that my bustle has ELEVEN POINTS to it that need to be pinned after the ceremony. Eleven. Meaning I have to hire a team of dwarves to swoop in and scramble underneath my gown and start frantically pinning so I can go take photos. I guess they don’t have to be frantic, really. I just think that if I’m going to hire a team of dwarves and all, they should be industrious. Am I wrong?
Bustle McBustleton. And finally, a shot of the detail:
At the last second, I remembered to try on my necklace with the dress. You can’t see it very well, but it’s a crystal and pearl lariat with a low dip in back that you just sort of knot and let hang down past your shoulders.
And though he managed to stay completely out of the pictures, thanks to my photog-for-a-day, Marcus!
Wow. I’m getting married in two and a half weeks.
