Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).

Not Our Reception Venue: Part 3

April 2nd, 2008 @ 1:23 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

During the winter, we were up at Grouse Mountain to try out snowshoeing for the first time.

For a moment we thought we’d found our perfect wedding venue. Just look at the view!

Just think of your guests arriving via gondola.

The Observatory at Grouse Mountain can be yours for a $500 deposit and a $650 room rental. Get the deck too for $350 more. We might have gone this route if they had any Saturdays in the summer available.

Being there in the winter really made me want to have a winter wedding though, because the snow just made everything look so romantic. At the same time, it was making me have flash backs of the L Word wedding that never was. It was set in Whistler and was oh so romantic:

Until, dum dum dum…Carmen got left at the altar.

On second thought, that’s not exactly the association I want with our wedding. Scratch winter wonderland lesbian wedding.

Next up, the big reveal!

You should definately try something a little less “cold”. I heard that 8/8/08 is going to be the lucky wedding date! You could even apply to the gr8weddingd8conest.com and stop a looking for venues all together!
