Mr. Canary and I met at Boston University, but it never occurred to us to get married there. Randomly, I remembered seeing a wedding there when we were at school. Considering that we met at BU and a majority of our wedding party consists of friends from college, it would have been a cute idea to get married on campus.

BU has a beautiful non-denominational chapel, Marsh Chapel, which I sadly never visited when I was attending school and am now regretting upon seeing the beautiful photos on the website. One of my favorite details of the area is the Free at Last sculpture by Sergio Castillo in memory of one of BU’s greatest alumni, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It depicts fifty doves flying in formation to represent peace in all fifty states. It’d make for a beautiful backdrop for wedding day portraits.

And what would be more fitting than completing the wedding day with a reception at the BU Castle, which is a Tudor revival mansion on the university’s campus used for events. The prices are very reasonable and are posted here. The maximum capacity for a sit-down dinner is 92.

A wedding on our college campus would have been super charming and nostalgic. Just the thought of all the different thematic things we could’ve have incorporated would make my mind burst! Oh well, I will file that one as another addition in my “Alternate Wedding Fantasy” folder.
Are any of you getting married at your alma mater or a college campus?
