“Trashing” “My” Dress

April 4th, 2008 @ 1:54 pm by Miss Cream Puff

So my dress didn’t end up all that trashed. And it wasn’t really MY dress, but a $25 dress I bought the week before the shoot. But I’m still going to call it my Trash the Dress session anyway!

I met the photographer, James, on Saturday afternoon around four. We decided to take the pictures at the Sutro Baths, which is a really awesome historical site right on the water. San Francisco beaches are notorious for being incredibly cold and windy, but that Saturday was worse than usual, I’m not going to lie. I was freezing my butt off! I had visions (and I think James did too) of pictures of me walking on the walls overlooking the ocean–unfortunately I was getting blown all over the place and I didn’t want to get blown into the incredibly turbulent ocean! We still ended up with some cool shots, though:

Note how I look like I have a weird, uncomfortable smile in this picture:

It’s because I felt weird and uncomfortable! There were a couple of tourists checking out the view from the cave behind James, and suddenly I looked up and realized one of them was taking my picture!

Me: “Why are you taking my picture?”

Him: “Because you don’t see this every day!”

Me (thinking): “That’s really weird and uncomfortable.”

After awhile at the Sutro Baths, we decided to move on. The cold was just too much to take…so we went into Golden Gate Park and got some more pictures done there. Here are a few:

Getting on this log was harder than it looks:

Rolling over on this log was even harder!

Whoa! I’m smiling! One of the few!

James described the photos as “moody,” which I think is a really good description. Considering I am generally very wacky, it was kind of cool to do something different! And of course, James was really great. Thanks for this opportunity, James!

I really like the 2nd location pix better. The log ones are awesome! I can’t believe you got that dress for $25! I like the idea of a pre-trash the dress session!

Oh and totally creepy that a random guy took your pix just because he doesn’t see that everyday! ha!

I love the pics of you rolled over on the log. The one of you huggin your knees and sitting on the rock looks like a pic I once saw in a fashion magazine.

Stunning …

Great pics! I’d love to do a TTD, but my dress is a straight sheath and I don’t think it would make very cool pics.

WHERE did you find a $25 dress that didn’t have huge puffy sleeves and a giant @ss-bow??

I’m not sure why you think it was weird that someone else was taking your picture. After all, you thought it was a cool enough thing to hire a professional photographer. But the photos look great!

these are pretty cool….its funny that as i was scrolling thru the post, i was thinking that the pics seem so unlike yoru personality….kinda dark…and then you pop up and say its our of character……and it all made complete sense!

really cool. will you show Mr. CP before the wedding or after?

i was torn about showing my FI pics of me in the reject wedding dresses. in the end i decided not to show him any at all. i even took my cartoon self off of the design your wedding party thing that David Bridal has before i forwarded it to him!

lol. i didnt even want him to see cartoon me in a wedding dress! now, THATS got 2 be wierd.
