Stop And Smell The Roses

April 7th, 2008 @ 3:55 pm by Mrs. Petunia

And the ranunculus. And the peonies. Thought I would interrupt my chronological wedding recap posts to bring you some of the loveliest details from our wedding: the flowers. They’ll make appearances in future posts, but they deserve top billing once before. After all, I just about died and went to heaven when I saw my bouquet.

All the girls’ flowers were variations on my bouquet, in decreasing sizes. Also, theirs were wrapped in green ribbon, rather than ivory and pink. They each had their initials, too:

A lonely picture of our flower arch, way after the fact. Hopefully, you’ll see better shots of it when I post about the ceremony:

A centerpiece:

And be still my heart — my favorite piece, the sweetheart table wreath and arrangement:

Remember this, my trial centerpiece? Bah, a thing of the past. Guess that’s why you get a sample done: talk it over, smooth things out, say “no way,” get what you really want. I know I did.

I love your arrangements, they’re so beautiful! And they DO look pricey. Did you manage to get a good deal?

I demand more pictures! :D

Mrs Petunia can you tell me where you got the initials for the bouquets? I was thinking of doing that for my BMs however the cost that I found them for was $20 an inital. Can you give me some direction? Thanks!

@Mags: Sorry I wasn’t clear on that! I meant that my MOH had a smaller version of my bouquet, and then the BM had a smaller version of the MOH’s bouquet, and finally Mr. Petunia’s Best Woman had a petite version.

@Jenny: Argh, I hate that pretty things come with a price tag sometimes (or talent, if you have it and can arrange flowers beautifully yourself). I think our final florist bill was around $2500 with delivery, etc.; the centerpieces were around $75 each and the bouquets started at $150 and decreased in price as they decreased in size. The wreath was about $150, and the most expensive piece was the arch, which with rental cost about $700 if I remember right. There were some other smaller arrangements around, too…

@GreenTeaGuinness: You can get the initials here for $12.99 each: http://www.bouquetjewels.com/mongrams_ccart.htm

Thanks everyone!

What is the name of that “drippy” greenery in the last photo? I’ve been trying to figure that out for weeks, but even my dear Master Gardener mom doesn’t quite know what I mean by “drippy”… You’d de-fizzle my wedding flower frazzles if you gals could tell me. Thanks!

@ErinMarieMack: You know? I think you’re not supposed to use your married inititals before the wedding, but I figured I’d be carrying the bouquet around mostly after the ceremony, so I gave myself the okay! =)
