About Mrs. Strawberry

Over-The-Shoulder-Boulder-Holder

April 9th, 2008 @ 4:00 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

That’s the kind of bra you need when you are well endowed young lady. Certainly, there are perks to being heavy chested. Guys kind of like ’em. You can fill out a top well. And when I’m laying on the couch, they make a great little resting spot for a beverage of my choice. Of course, there are the drawbacks as well. Those were never so apparent as when I was searching for a wedding dress. When I was getting my dress altered, Vladamir (insert heavy Russian accent) said, “Oh dear, this not church cleavage.” The style of dress I could wear was also limited–backless was a pipe dream.

But hello!? The geniuses at N.A.S.A came up with this baby. (And when I say N.A.S.A, I mean Elaine Cato who entered a reality show called American Inventor similar to American Idol, and came in second place.)

“The bra is held up by the shoulder straps,” explained Cato. “It is made of lightweight microfiber fabric that is soft to the touch, with seamless molded foam cups that deliver smooth shaping under clothes. Combining that with a two-way stretch technology, the bra provides a maneuverable fit with excellent flexibility.”

It’s called the “Breakthrough Backless Bra” by Maidenform, and in short, it’s amazing!

i am stunned that this bra comes in a DD…though i am bigger than a DD but i am wondering if i could fudge it since my dress has boning and a lace up back……

thanks for the heads up…..i doubt i will be able to use this but i think this is an awesome option for ladies up to 38DD.

OMG.

Mrs. Strawberry! *waves*

Thanks for posting this. I’m a DD and I need something that has a lot more support and with my backless dress, this is perfect!

You mean I could have had a backless dress?????

akimbo says:

Have you had the opportunity to try it on? I don’t want to get my hopes up!

Mary says:

This bra DOES NOT work ..I ordered it and the straps are too thin to hold anything. Do not waste your money or time on this .

Lynie says:

I remember watching American Inventor last year when she was a contestant! It’s awesome that they’ve actually brought these to the public.

Maryring says:

It’s not available online yet…is there any place you know of where to get one? That would be perfect for me.

akimbo says:

Mary, thank you. I was thinking about all the $$ I’ve spent on strapless bras and the NEVER provide the support I need. I gave up on finding the perfect strapless, finally. I didn’t want to get my hopes up regarding this backless bra. :)

Peonies says:

but what i you want a backless, strapless over the shoulder boulder holder?!

I guess you just have more sense than to buy a backless, strapless dress!

Ack, no!
I was a tester for this, and it SUCKED. Seriously. As in, the time it took me to fill out the survey wasn’t even worth the cost of the free bra they sent me.
AWFUL.
You could only pull it off if you don’t need to wear a bra anyway, and then what’s the point?!?

If you are sitting in a straight backed chair and superglued the cups in place and didn’t move once the entire night, then maybe you could get away with it. But if you move an inch to the side, or lean forward half an inch, POP out went the boobies. I was embarrassed just wearing this around my own apartment by myself! At one point, one boob popped out the top, and the other fell below the underwire, so I had one up by my neck and another dropping under.

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!

Don’t waste your money. You may as well just duct-tape the girls into place — at least then they will stay.

Darn, it’s not in my size!

even if it does work, i can only imagine those teeny-tiny straps being absolute murder on your shoulders. oh, the red marks. oh, the pain.

Thank you Mrs. Strawberry for the post! Hey hive, it’s important to point out that bras are a personal garment, so fit will vary from person to person. Obviously, what might work for Mrs. Strawberry might not work for you. Really, it’s all about more options for us voluptous women.

Also this post contains my absolute favorite line ever: “Oh dear, this is not church cleavage!” Love. It. And. Will. Steal. It.

I think it may work if you use spray adhesive to keep it in place. All the drag queens use it to make “clevage” and “breasts”. So I think it would work with a backless dress…just needs a little tweeking.

brendalynn says:

Mrs. Strawberry, have you tried it too?

Just the logistics don’t really make sense to me… and I’m not surprised to hear some negative comments from people who said they’ve tried it…

i saw that episode - the judges were so mean : “why would anybody want a bra like this??”

the judges were obviously all men. :p

kelly says:

I doubt this would work for a DD, let alone an F-bomb like me. Ouch. Those straps DO look like murder.

22.
Myisha says:

Thanks…. I definitely need this. I am larger than the DD as well but I am wondering if it will work as well.

BaghdadBride says:

i’ve never tried this bra but most bra “experts” say that all the support you get from a bra should come from the band around your ribcage and should never come from the straps (straps shouldn’t be holding your girls up), so I’d be interested to know where the support comes from? What’s holding everything up?
