Pictures! Literarily Different

April 9th, 2008 @ 12:48 pm by Mrs. Robin

I know that I have been woefully absent. So absent that I might not even be remembered. It seems that I have a way of underestimating things - for example I underestimated the problems one might have with internet in Mexico. For whatever reason the internet connection we have here in lovely Zacatecas hates the site upon which I blog. Hates it to the degree that crashing and losing of half-typed entries drove me to give up for almost two months. But here are more pictures at last.

So our photos were taken largely in Powell’s City of Books, which bills itself as the world’s largest independent bookstore. I was so grateful that they would let us in there on their busiest night of the week to take pictures. And let me be clear that even though we did our best, we were definitely in the way. But if you really have an idea that you think represents you as a couple, go for it, because the pictures came out awesome!

The boys browsing a bit while they waited for me to show up to do the reveal. But where was I and the girls at?

Right! Goofing around with parasols outside. But we showed up eventually….

And we got to meet for the first time on our wedding day beneath the stacks.

Then on to the Rare Book Room for the group shots.

And some I didn’t even know they took. In the one above I was watching the other photographer take pictures of Mr. Robin - notice the big smile.

There were truly a lot of pictures taken inside Powell’s, and I love them all. We goofed around a little and had fun. The only thing I wish we had planned for was more time. We never got to go outside much in the Pearl District and it had great photo opportunities, so give yourself way more time than you think you will need.

as an avid book lover, I think the idea to shoot them there is awesome!

we’re trying to get ours done at his firestation, but we have no idea how that’s going to pan out. Too bad there’s not a nearby bookstore/library :)

Ooh, I’ve been waiting to see these, and they are just as wonderful as I thought they would be! Aren’t you glad you asked?! This weekend my sweetie and I are taking the official tour of Wrigley Field with our photographer to get some casual “engagement pics” on the field, in the dugout, in the clubhouse, etc - hooray for taking pictures in unusual venues that represent you as a couple!

I have been searching and searching for a library that we could use for our reception but I haven’t had much luck so far. I think we will have to do what you did (no problem with that since I love your pictures!)

Your photos are so lovely. Thank you for posting them.

Powell’s (sigh). Just one of the many things I love about Portland. I’m flying there tomorrow for a short weekend trip to see my MOH.

I love Powells! It is one of the truly great bookstores - maybe the best, since the Tattered Cover in Denver has been going downhill the past few years. I don’t get there enough, but they have great internet order and bookfinding services. And what fun pictures!

Adore your pictures and entire wedding look/feel. As a result, my sweetie and I just booked the armory for our wedding and would love to hear more about how you liked it and what you recommend….if possible. Thanks in advance!
