Guest List JOY

April 10th, 2008 @ 5:04 pm by Miss Cream Puff

Yes, you read that right: Guest list JOY. At any other point in the wedding planning process, I would have told you that the guest list could bring nothing but total and utter pain. Last night, however, I decided to re-do our guest list. For awhile, I was using the knot’s guest list manager. I found the whole thing to be slow and not user-friendly. So I tried to switch to the one from Bed Bath and Beyond, which looked like it could be better. Unfortunately, their flash interface was incredibly slow and made me want to claw my own eyeballs out.

So yesterday I received my license key for a program called Perfect Table Plan. This super cool company some of the bees complimentary license keys so we could play around with the program (and of course, we weren’t obligated to write about it–more on the program later. I figured out that you can actually download a trial yourself, so check it out!). I imported all my guest info from the knot’s exported file, then deleted the guests we decided to cut out.

I. was. thrilled.

Why? Because instead of going UP, our guest list is now DOWN by over 10 guest! WHEW! Maybe we might be able to add some friends we didn’t have room for?! Or maybe I should just be super excited that we’re actually saving some money. I mean, at the end of the day, we’re still 22 guests above our goal number (haha).

While I was playing around with the list, I realized that we still didn’t have some of the addresses we need, nor did I have some of the +1’s full names. I renewed my efforts to gather this information by sending out email requests to Mr. Cream Puff, Momma Puff, and FMIL Puff. I was shocked when, after 10 months of asking, FMIL Puff actually called people and got some addresses. You know it’s getting close when even FMIL Puff is feeling the urgency!

To celebrate, I decided to address some more envelopes. High five!

I have really loved using it. I also went on to seat everyone we are inviting, knowing full well that I was going to have to do it all over again after I actually send out my invites. It was so fun!
