Guest Provisions

April 14th, 2008 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

I don’t know when or where she said it, but when Mrs. Bee said that her bathroom baskets were a saving grace to a few of her guests, it lodged firmly in my brain: MUST MAKE BATHROOM BASKETS.

It’s hard to beautify drugstore items, so I really didn’t try to. I just plopped them in a dish (or on a tray) and left it at that:

Women’s: mints, hair spray, shout wipes, bobby pins, cotton pads, nail file, nail clippers, blotting pads, deodorant, anti-static spray.

Men’s: deodorant, hair spray, gum, mints, stain stick.

Anything I’m missing?

Your venue’s women’s bathroom might supply some, but what about some… girly stuff? (… tampons, pads, lol.)

Looks like you’ve got the bases covered, but erm, will be people be sharing the deoderant?

Clear nail polish for the ladies who get runs in their stockings. Not that I ever wear stockings to a wedding - but my grandma does! ;)

Safety pins!

I always keep a safety pin in my purse, and have often come to the rescue of the broken zipper, the snapped strap, the popped button.

I was going to suggest some feminine products as well.

Marie05 says:

I’d suggest safety pins for at least the girls - sometimes straps break, and that’s a bummer!

EJV says:

Hmmm. I would’ve gotten them travel-sized products. With airport security nowadays, any guests who traveled with just a carry on, might have to throw away perfectly good bottles of shampoo!

advil, aspirin, tums, etc. You might also consider spray on deodorant instead of roll on.

Aliya says:

You can remedy the deoderant-sharing issue by providing a spray instead of a stick. I’d toss a handful of hair ties in your women’s basket, and a few band-aids in both!

I agree, it’s hard to dress them up. One couple did really cool baskets, but had to put them in stark white and bare bathrooms, so for some color I picked some big hydrangea leaves and placed them underneath (one on each side). Hydrangea leaves = nature’s placemats.

Disposable razors & shaving (both). Band-Aids (both). Gum (both). Hand cream (both). Hair elastics (ladies).

I agree with the tampons, pads, pantyliners thing for the women :) And you can’t go wrong with the spray deoderant’s… b/c you have people like me who dont want to use the stick kind after another person :) haha. Good idea! I love this…

why we have a wiki entry on this topic! :)

but the most used items in our bathroom basket were feminine products (both pads and tampons), bobby pins, and safety pins.

What is the font you used? it’s beautiful!

Disposable razors? How long does this wedding go on for?! :)

Nail file and hair elastics are the best ideas for the ladies … I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve needed both on a girls night out, and my friends are always grateful when I’ve got either to spare.

Like the others, I’m not sure about the roll-on deoderant … eeww!

Cute idea! I think trying to beautify the deodorant and whatnot might just be overkill. Safety pins and tampons would be helpful.

These are for the bathroom in your reception venue, right? Not like a hotel/OOT bag? It also might be nice to provide the individual packets or travel size dental floss. I second the ick factor associated with the stick deodorant. Maybe a packet of travel-wipes (like the grown-up version of baby wipes) as well?

EJV- they are baskets for the venue bathrooms : ) lol. I dont know maybe some people will be stealing them and bringing them home. I love those little teeth cleaners (little toothbrush sleeves) for when you drink red wine, they are great for just a quick cleaning of the teeth : ) remember the commercials : )-here they are! http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/body-care/oral-b-brush-aways/1030669/

A little sewing kit would be a good addition! And I totally second hair elastics and bobby pins and a nail file.

as far as the deoderant thing…..

i’m thinking if your desperate, you wont care that much about mutli use deoderant!

Yvonne says:

Sewing kit and band aids might be helpful.
How about a nice hand cream?
And for the men: show cream.

i was thinking the same thing! pads and tampons!

Pain reliever, Band-Aids, maybe some Alka-Seltzer or Zantac? This one would be rare, but I got a sliver once on a banister at a reception and had to beg around to find an older women with one of those giant purses to get a pair of tweezers!

enason says:

bobby pins….maybe those de-greasing face wipes for the ladies???

25.
BRS says:

enason, she has blotting pads in there for the ladies (which is a great idea, I always need them).

26.
Katie says:

I agree with the other posts…safety pins, bandaids for blisters, pain relievers, and dental floss!

Liene at Blue Orchid Designs says:

Definitely feminine products and safety pins.
