About Mrs. Tiramisu

Queen For A Day

April 16th, 2008 @ 12:11 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

This past weekend was a busy one - not only did we have our engagement photo shoot on Sunday, I also had my bridal shower on Saturday. Seven of Mr. Tiramisu’s mom’s closest friends hosted this most amazing event! I was a little nervous going into the party, and they knew it, so they did everything in their power to make the day perfect.

I was happy to see everyone was wearing their nametags! Although I had met everyone at least once before, I am so terrible with names. I didn’t need a nametag, however- there’s no mistaking the bride when she’s wearing a veil:

My maid of honor, Carolyn, and I. Carolyn had the hair trial for her wedding right before the shower - looks fabulous, no?

The hostesses had asked me in advance what my favorite cake flavor was- and just look at this dessert spread!

Front and center is the chocolate raspberry cake!

I was amazed to discover that one of the hostesses had arranged those flowers herself- wow. They are now sitting on our dining room table- looking a little out of place among the wedding mess, but oh-so beautiful.I was lucky to be surrounded by so many of Mr. Tiramisu’s friends and family- including four of his adorable cousins:

Involving the cousins: on the left are our two flowergirls, and on the right are two of our lovely guest book attendants.

Before long it was present time! Here are a couple of my favorites:

A beautiful silver frame from his grandmother, featuring a baby Mr. Tiramisu pic :)

A gorgeous mirror from my sister-in-law, Iva, who’s on the left in green.

The shower hosts were just unbelievable the whole time- constantly keeping a glass of wine in my hand and a piece of cake in front of me throughout the party- I felt like royalty!

Just- wow.

Mr. Tiramisu made an appearance towards the end of the shower-

Check out my awesome ribbon bouquet!

I love this picture of my Mom and me- she traveled all the way from Maine for my shower!

The best part though is that it totally looks like Mr. Tiramisu is leaning in for a butt grab.

At the end of the day I was totally overwhelmed at all the love being thrown my way. All I’m doing is getting married- it happens all the time! Any one else feeling totally in awe of the generosity?

I have my first shower this weekend, and I’m already overwhelmed and nervous. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun, but being the center of attention always makes me nervous.

Your shower looked beautiful and fun! What a good time!

You look so lovely … I’m actually really jealous of your lovely dress from Anthropologie. You look fabulous in it!

Can’t wait to see how your engagement pics went.

Isn’t it the best feeling? I had my first shower about 3 weeks ago and I was so nervous… even thought they were my best friends… it was nice but it didn’t set me feeling like I was getting married. After this past shower at home, I’m definitely feeling that I’m getting married. My family was so sweet and they “showered” us with gifts and love! I can’t wait this weekend for the shower with his family… My parents are actually coming so I’ll feel very comfortable.

That Anthropologie Blue Dress looks nice on you. I tried on but it wasn’t for me but it looks great on you. I got the navy blue simple dress for a friends wedding.

I think showers, no matter who they are for, tend to be one of the most enjoyable events during the whole wedding planning process–I had a blast planning my SIL’s a few years ago, and am looking forward to planning a dear friends’ in a couple of months. Yours looks like it was lots and lots of fun!

I know the date and location of my upcoming shower (not until July) because I’ll be coming in from out of town, but other than that I am completely in the dark about details…so while I’m excited, I’m also a little nervous as to what my godmother and bridesmaids have planned…

I have been coveting that dress…so pretty. I’ve promised myself an Anthropologie dress to wear for my shower!
