About Miss Pineapple

You Bet Your Sweet Pineapple I Will!

April 16th, 2008 @ 10:58 am by Miss Pineapple

The first week of August 2007, Mr. Pineapple and I went to New York to visit my sister. We had a great time staying in Chinatown and adventuring all over the city, it was Mr. P’s first visit. (My sister is the one on the left.)

On Saturday, Mr. Pineapple and I had the day to ourselves. We spent the day hauling our stuff up to midtown and wandering about. We had dinner at a steak house and headed back to Central Park, this time sans sister and sister’s boyfriend. It was a thousand degrees outside and for some reason Mr. Pineapple was wearing his heavy coat and not looking very comfortable. I let him lead the way through the park and then we stopped on the bow bridge.

When we were alone, Mr. Pineapple got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and was on cloud nine. Turns out, he had to wear his coat because the box the ring came in was huge and it wouldn’t fit in any of his other pockets!Speaking of the ring:

Mr. Pineapple knows me well, that is for sure. He wanted to find something unique, but not over the top crazy. During his search he found the website of Gelin Abaci, and found out about rose gold. The only thing holding the diamond in place is the tension of the ring. Scary I know, but they say it is safer that the typical prong settings. After deciding which style he liked he moved on to finding the diamond.

Gelin Abaci is located in California and the diamond was located in Chicago - the Pineapples are in Pittsburgh. So, he did everything online and over the phone working with the Chicago jeweler, Dimend Scaasi. He had a great experience with them, but never saw a thing until the ring was mailed to him! I don’t know how he did it!

Does anyone else have an unusual or rose gold ring?

YAY!!! Dimend Scaasi!! They made my ring too!! Mr.Emerald purchased the diamond online, and then brought it to DS to set, and its peerrrrfeect =) Supposedly they usually don’t like to set diamonds that aren’t purchased through them, at least that’s what they told Mr.E…

I got my ring from Dimend Scaasi! We bought my diamond, setting, and wedding band there after a ton of internet research. We are also out of state and they made the whole process super-easy - definitely one of our favorite vendors.

I’d say mine’s a bit unusual — it’s a Dream cut from Hearts on Fire. I knew I wanted a square stone, but wasn’t all about the Princess cut. Ascher interested me, but I wanted more the facets to more closely resemble a brilliant…and, the Dream exceeded all my expectations.

It’s a beautiful ring! I have a pretty unusual ring too. It’s white gold, but it has a curvy band. We designed it together, actually as he didn’t have a ring when he proposed! It has two diamonds, one that my father passed to me, and one that belonged to his great-grandmother that happened to be the same cut and same size! We designed a band that looks it weaves the 2 diamonds together.

That’s a great proposal story. We lived in NY for years and miss it!

I’m more a fan of platinum myself, but if it makes you happy, go for it!

I have a gorgeous antique setting with a PURPLE sapphire. I’ve never cared for diamonds or the classic blue sapphires, so I was thrilled to find that sapphires come in so many colors.

I was hoping to get a pink gold wedding band, but I ended up liking my engagement ring so much that I went with a coordinating band (in yellow gold).

I have a yellow cushion cut sapphire with two pear shaped diamonds on either side. And my favorite part are the pave diamonds going down the side. I love it!! And I love having an unusual ring!

I have a Gelin Abaci ring as well. It’s a round stone w/ white gold and 5 tiny diamonds flanking it on either side in channels. I haven’t seen anyone in person with one like it. It love how it feels like just my ring even though it’s not custom designed.

I never found Rose Gold appealing until I found this ring.

Yours is really gorgeous. Reminds me of the rings I have been ripping out of wedding magazines for years.

That didn’t link correctly, and so by this ring I mean the Hewn Solitare 8X6 Diamond.

I love hearing about everyone’s rings! I wish I could see photos of all of them. I’ve realized that I don’t know much about rings after this post and found myself googling things such as “cushion cut” and “dream cut.”

[…] My engagement ring was custom made to fit the diamond Mr. Pineapple picked out, so we had to send it away to have a wedding band made to match. This makes me sad. I have been without my ring for over 4 weeks now. You would think that being engagement ring free for 4 weeks after being engagement ring free for 23 years would not be so bad. I just love being engaged to Mr. Pineapple and having the ring remind me of how lucky I am every time I look at my hand. […]

[…] One afternoon last summer Mr. Pineapple and I were laying around the house being lazy when he asked, “so when the day comes, do you want to help pick out your ring?” My response was a quick, “no thanks, I love surprises and I trust you.” I tried to forget the conversation because it was still pretty early in the relationship and I assumed he was asking for future reference, way future reference. Apparently, not so much. It wasn’t long after this short exchange that Mr. Pineapple purchased my engagement ring. […]
