About Mrs. Tiramisu

Girls With Big Cameras

April 17th, 2008 @ 12:37 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

Way back in November, before I was a bee, I was getting my daily (ok, maybe more like three to four times at least) dose of weddingbee when I noticed an ad for free engagement photography in Washington, DC in the classified section. We hadn’t yet decided if engagement photos were going to fit into our budget, so I couldn’t believe how perfect of an opportunity it was. I replied just as fast as I could (they said it was in under three minutes!), and was thrilled to receive a quick response saying that we were one of the lucky three couples to win a free engagement session!

Girls With Big Cameras
is a Washington, DC based company run by three friends- Claire, Grace, and Loun-Loun (aka L2) with a passion for photography. We met up with Claire and Grace on Sunday, and they were kind enough to travel here to Annapolis for our shoot- and even let us bring our schnauzer, Duncan, along. Mr. Tiramisu and I had no idea what to expect, so we were very relieved when we found out how awesome both girls were at making us feel comfortable in front of a lens, setting us up for shots without making us feel posed, and scouting out some great locations in our familiar surroundings. Here’s a sneak peek at our shoot:

For a few more, and some wanna-be Miss Penguin jumping shots, check out their blog here. A warning- Penguins can fly, but Miss Tiramisu had a little trouble getting off the ground ;) If you’re looking for affordable yet awesome engagement photography, definitely don’t hesitate to check out Girls With Big Cameras. Amazingly, all of the girls have full time jobs other than photography, leaving them with precious little time to schedule shoots- so if you’re interested you might want to act as quickly as I did :)

Nice pics! How long did your engagement shoot take? We’re having ours done in Baltimore and we were told that our photographer will only take 30 minutes for the shoot. I’m wondering if that is enough time.

So gorgeous! What a fabulous opportunity you had to shoot with these talented photogs! And what are you talking about, you’ve got hops! I think its so crazy how they are able to capture jumping shots…they happen so quickly. My fave is the first one, although I LOVE the glamour shot of you (but Mr. T isnt in it, so its not fair to pick that as my fave hee hee)

Duncan is so photogenic!

@AKPM: 30 minutes is a very very short session! I’d ask if you could bump it up to at least an hour… Our session was 2 hours long and I wish we had more time! In the 2 hours we were able to shoot in 2 locations and in probably about 8 different “setups” (meaning backdrops i guess). Our photographer suggested a 2 day shoot, but I didnt want to put her out like that (since it was free/included in the package) but looking back on it, we should have taken her up on the offer.

Oh Duncan, he’s so cute! I love how he’s looking away from you in the first three pics, checking to make sure he isn’t missing something interesting. And you have serious jumping skills, don’t kid yourself!

Great pictures! Also, as a former Annapolis-ite it was great to see all those familiar locales. Makes me a little nostalgic…

@AKPM: I agree with the Peng, is there any way you can do longer? We spent a little over 2 hours… we were exhausted at the end, but I’m so glad we had all that time to traipse all over Annapolis!

I love love these! I dont know if I’ll be courageous enough to do a jumping shot, but maybe I’ll just make my fiance jump… Duncan looks so cute!!
