It’s Party Time!

April 17th, 2008 @ 3:24 pm by Miss Hydrangea

Last night, Mom H met up with her lovely friends to plan a date for my first wedding shower! My mom and her friends, who like to call themselves the Ya-Yas, have traditionally given wedding and baby showers to each of their daughters/daughters-in-law in the past.  So they gathered, wine glasses in hand, to plan the date for sometime in July!

I was going to possibly give the ladies homemade aprons, but have now decided to give each of them one nice item, still undecided, and this:

I couldn’t find anything more fitting than to give each of them a copy of the movie that they have so cutely named themselves after. While they haven’t known each other since they were children, they’ve known me since I was just out of diapers, so I couldn’t be more excited to have these wonderful women help me celebrate my big day!

What gifts have you all given your hosts/hostesses for your shower?

Okay, I know weddingbee is a little DIY nuts, but you know what would be supercute? Replacing the pictures and names at the top with the hostesses! You could print the photoshopped covers and put them on the dvd’s. Then it’s even more of a keepsake! You could even erase the credits in the sunflower and replace them with shower/wedding notes. Just a thought!

Great movie and even better book! If they haven’t already read the book, I’d suggest getting that because there are even more crazy Ya-Ya stories in the book to enjoy. I think the previous suggest for making a faux cover is super cute!

I like that idea!

Or… you could make ‘em little “ya-ya” scrapbooks like in the movie.

I sent a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to the home of the hostess of our couples’ shower. Not only did that show my gratitude before the event began, but I know she appreciated having one more pretty touch for the setting! I also brought her a nice Jo Malone candle in a relaxing scent. Nice candles are always appreciated! Have fun :)

or ya-ya headdresses? now THAT would make for some fun photos!!! ;-)

If your shower is sometime during the summer, you could accompany this with a bouquet of sunflowers that you could divide between them.

I love the idea of the photoshopping, that way if they by chance already have the DVD you have added something special :)
