All Just A Dream…

April 21st, 2008 @ 5:11 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

This past weekend the wedding related nightmares really started to kick in. This is the biggest sign that the big day is really on its way. There is officially 2 months left until our wedding, and I hope I won’t have nightmares every day until then. I’ve had nightmares here and there before, but these were the kind where you wake up, go back to bed, and the dream continues like it was never interrupted.

It was nothing over the top, but I still wouldn’t want this to happen at my wedding.

Dream # 1
It’s the big day, but I can’t really say if the weather outside is nice. I’m in a room getting ready to leave for the church and I realize that I am missing all the accessories I had purchased especially for this day. Everything was wrong - I was wearing the wrong jewelry, I forgot my hair comb and we forgot to purchase shoes for the flower girl. Then we get to the church and all seems well, but the flower girl doesn’t show up and Mr. F forgets the rings at home. I tell him that he needs to go get them and where they can be found (I speak to him through the doors so that he doesn’t see me). He leaves and comes back 15 minutes later saying he couldn’t find them!

I decide to grab a bicycle and ride all the way home… yes in my dress. Why I didn’t think to take a car is beyond me.  So I finally get the rings but because it took too much time, the next wedding starts and we can’t get married anymore. I had the most terrified look on my face - luckily I woke up.

Dream # 2
It’s the morning of the big day and rather than having my friend come over to do my bridal makeup, I decide to go to the M.A.C store instead.  I guess I was afraid that she wouldn’t do a good job - when obviously that’s not the case. But I  decided to go to my appointment in my wedding dress. When I got to the M.A.C store and the girl started doing her thing, she dropped the whole bottle of foundation on my gown. Can you imagine? I would die! If there is one thing I am absolutely looking forward to, it’s wearing my wedding dress. :)

Now I know that these situations won’t happen on the actual wedding day. I’m way too prepared for that…right?

What’s your most horrifying wedding related nightmare?

UGH! Mine are just starting. This weekend I dreamed that I was trying to get all my bridesmaids together to go to the salon on the morning of the wedding and they were complaining that I was being unreasonable to get them up so early, and didn’t I understand that they were all hungover from the night before and didn’t really want to go to the wedding. EEEK!

It always takes me a couple of minutes when I wake up to calm down and realize it’s not my wedding day yet!

Most recently (I have these nightmares frequently), I dreamed that the flowers were all dead/dying and they were all cheap “filler” flowers — not the peonies I so clearly ordered. Everyone thought I was being irrational for being upset about it. Then whenI called the florist she said, “Sorry, but you never gave me your final payment so this was the best I could do with the money from your deposit!”. I woke up in a panick thinking, “MUST CONFIRM PAYMENT WITH FLORIST!”.

In one of the first of my wedding nightmares, I arrived to the ceremony in a ridiculous dress with a long front…and a short back. Like, barely covering my bum short. My fiance arrived wearing Superhero footie pajamas.

endb- almost all my nightmares are about the flowers too! its always the same thing- I get to the wedding and realize my bouquet/centerpieces/etc. are all the wrong! They have the wrong types of flowers, all are the wrong colors, and don’t match each other! Also, the rain nightmares are very frequent- our wedding is outside in a garden with a tent as a back up- ack! Lets hope for the right flowers and sunny skies for my wedding :)

I am so glad to hear I’m not the only one that has these! I have them a few times a week, and they all involve things being horribly wrong in one way or another. I’ve been trying so hard not to stress while I’m awake that I think this is the only way to let it out!!

In my dream I am sitting around my house waiting for people to show up so we could all get ready. It’s only 11 so I tell myself not to worry. Then I worry and worry. By the time my mom casually show up at 1:00 I feel like a young girl who’s b-day party no-one came to. I told my mom that we should just cancel it, because no-ones coming anyway.

Mine are starting too. at 3 months out! I’ve dreamed twice that I didn’t get the dress altered and it was too short! I guess I should get to seamstress fast!

In my last wedding nightmare my mom’s boyfriend unleashed his pet tiger (why in the world would he even own a pet tiger?!) in the chapel and he terrorized/chased down our minister and everyone was hysterical…isn’t that weird?

i haven’t had full blown wedding nightmares yet, just really wacky wedding dreams =P. my latest one involved me for some reason NOT wearing contacts at my wedding…or glasses. so i ended up not seeing anyone at the wedding b/c i was nearly blind. at the end of the blurry wedding, i thought to myself (in my dream) that i really needed to do that over again.

I’m *so* glad to hear I’m not alone! It’s exactly two months today until my wedding and my nightmares started last week. The one last night involved being late to my ceremony site and realizing that the hair and makeup people had already left. I hurried to get ready on my own, and then after putting on my dress I tripped and fell in the mud on the way to the altar! The nightmare last week was about me being in the passenger seat of a car, rolling down a steep hill, pulling the emergency break which wasn’t working too well, trying to jump into the driver’s seat to hit the break but there was all kinds of clutter on the floor preventing me from doing so (coffee cups, etc.). It’s not hard to figure out what that one’s all about (feeling very out of control! ha!)

Deonise says:

Oh yes, the dreaded wedding nightmares. My latest one was about my dress. I paid for it and have left it at the dress store for safe keeping until I take it to the seamstress to get altered. But when I went to go pick up the dress a month later, the store has sold my dress to another bride and they don’t seem to think this is a problem. I’m exactly 2 months to the date as well and I only expect them to get worse. :)

I had a nightmare that it was just a few days before the wedding, and my FI went climbing. (He goes “bouldering” a lot… especially in the summer, which is when my wedding will be). Anyway, in the nightmare, he was climbing a rock, and he fell… and died. It was so unbelievably realistic that I woke up crying! And when I finally got back to sleep, the nightmare continued. It was horrible!

My ‘do kept coming undone, so I had to throw my hair back in a hasty pony tail!
Then my hubby-to-be HAD to go for ice cream just before the ceremony:)

Last night I had nightmare about the impeding wedding too! I have a little over 2 months and my dream was that the food wasn’t ready when we arrived! Wasn’t ready! Until 11:45. Yeah. Everyone was starving, kids were crying (even though we aren’t having any kids there) and all hell broke loose. I woke up terrified! I hope mine don’t last either….i can’t take much more of that :)

Is it odd that my fiance is the one with the odd wedding relate dreams?

He keeps having nightmares that he has to marry someone other than me. How sad, eh?

Hehe.. I just blogged about my very first wedding nightmare just a few days ago… and I am still a year out until the wedding! I’m hoping they don’t stick around until then! Mine consisted of walking into a Chinese-themed banquet hall that had (unbeknownst to me) been chosen as our reception site and finding that my fiance is nowhere to be found, I don’t know anyone (there were about 500 people!)there except for my in-laws, and after I’ve cried my eyes out I can’t find my makeup to fix my runny face! There were lots more details but I’d rather not relive them… I was glad it was just a dream!

at least, in the first dream, the issue of no shoes for the flower girl was no longer a problem since she wasn’t there to need shoes. ;)

i’m sorry about the nightmares. that’s frustrating. i’m dreading those.

I don’t know if it was this post, but I am 6 weeks out and just had one last night Mine was bridesmaid dresses ! Instead of the peony tissue tafeta sleeveless gowns I ordered, the dresses that came in were black, wool, turtleneck dresses?!? The store was nice enough not to charge me for them but I had nothing for my bridesmaids to wear and only a few weeks to go!! This one was manageable - my dream self had already decided on a new plan - pick a color and let them buy whatever they could find - but I hope these don’t become regular occurences :)

I love hearing about dreams in general– so interesting! In my recent dream, it was my wedding day and it was about 11:00 in the morning and I was still lounging around drinking coffee enjoying the ocean view. Everyone was talking about how excited they were for the wedding, and it was then I realized I had not planned ANY of it! I had picked the venue and that was it. I started to panic about how I was going to plan a wedding in a few hours.
So nice to know it was only a dream!
