Bolting to New York (or Boston) For $1

April 23rd, 2008 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Toucan

Starting tomorrow, Bostonians and New Yorkers can travel between Beantown and the Big Apple using a new bus line! BoltBus, a joint venture between Peter Pan and Greyhound Bus Lines, is using some of the same tactics as Southwest airlines, and promising more leg room and free Wi-Fi! Additionally, for launch of the Boston-New York route, tickets are $1 for that travel route until Sunday! Tickets after the promotion will be priced from $1-$20 (at least one seat on every bus is $1!).

Sounds like a fabulously cheap option (other than the Chinatown buses) for a bachelorette party or girls’ weekend away! Who’s ready to hop on the bus?

I got a ticket Miss Toucan! I am uber psyched about the free wi-fi and outlets.

I’ve taken it between NY and DC a few times in the past couple of weeks, and it is far superior to the Chinatown buses. It’s fast, clean, and you can plug your laptop in!

I’ve never gotten the cheap fares, but $20 is still much cheaper than Amtrak.

What a great find! It would still save us a bundle if we took the bus out of DC. Mr. P and I are definitely looking into this for a trip back to our engagement location :)

My bridesmaids came down from NYC to DC for my bachelorette for $1 - a total of $4.50 for 2 roundtrips! They said it was nice, clean, well managed - and best of all, they still had money for drinks!

I wanted to follow up on this… Bolt is great. I am writing this from the bus on the way from Boston to NYC. Friendly driver and clean bus. Wifi works well and there are plugs at every seat!
