The Worst Part of the Honeymoon…

April 23rd, 2008 @ 5:06 pm by Ms. Dahlia

is the shots I have to get beforehand.

Image found here.

Travel to Bali requires several vaccinations- and not just the run of the mill Hepatitis B and Tetanus. No, I was loaded up with a grand total of four (4!) vaccinations just to be able to safely travel. Plus a prescription for two different medicines (one for malaria, the other for traveler’s diarrhea.) How did I find out about what vaccinations I needed? The Center for Disease Control’s website, which has all of the handy information that I need.

Luckily for me, I don’t actually mind getting shots (not that it’s my favorite thing in the world, but there are a lot of other things that are a whole lot worse), so it wasn’t too bad.

Anyone else need to get vaccinations for the honeymoon?

I had to get a bunch of shots for Bali, too. They weren’t too bad…and they are totally worth it! You have to go to Ubud and stay at Kajane (get the Beji Kila Villa)! Oh, I miss Bali!!!

I was looking at the CDC website and other travel websites and they seem to have conflicting information of which shots you need for Bali (we’re also going there for our honeymoon!) Which shots specifically did you have to get?

If you just go to your local public health department, the nice public health nurse has the latest information on what is required, and will also advise you on what else it might be wise to have. You can get all the shots there, much cheaper than from your doctor. It’s your tax dollars at work, so might as well take advantage of it!

I went to Bali last June for 2 weeks and didnt get any shots or take any medication. I think it really depends on where you are going and how much treking out in the forests you will be doing.

Nope :) But I did have to get a bunch when we went to Egypt a few months ago. That typhoid one was the worst! My arm was so achy– how’s yours holding up?

I will be going to South Africa. I just started getting my shots and my arm is still aching from the tetanus shot. Some of my shots are covered by insurance and some are not so I’m only doing a few at a time. I might have to check out the public health department. Thanks suzanno.

yikes!! I hate shots! :( I’m really afraid of needles. Yet another reason I may put off traveling back to my homeland of Indonesia… I didn’t need any to travel to the Caribbean for my honeymoon thankfully.

Omigod I am so excited for you. I went there with my fiance last April and it was awesome! Ubud is definitely a must! Cafe Lotus is awesome. It overlooks a beautiful little stage with a pond! We stayed at Casa Luna and took their cooking class which I would totally recommend if you love Indonesian food and cooking! And if you stay at Casa Luna, they have the BEST breakfast ever. I’m excited for you!

I just checked this site, and it seems to say the shots were recommended not required. How did you know they were required?
