Etsy Love

April 25th, 2008 @ 10:58 am by Miss Sundae

I know that I want my hair half up for the wedding, and when I saw this picture on The Knot I also knew that I wanted something like that to go in my hair:

Being the clueless bride that I am, I originally thought it was just a cool barrette. I quickly turned to Etsy in search of something similar, and came across Butterfly Enchantress Designs. Even though they didn’t have an exact match, I could tell that there was a similar look to the things in the store. So I went out on a limb and sent the above picture to the designer, and she responded in about 5 seconds letting me know that those are in fact hair pins (how cool is that?) and sent me this picture of her work:

Um, perfect! We talked about the design and the materials, and she couldn’t have possibly been nicer or more informative (and also patient with me and my complete lack of hair accessory knowledge). She’s going to add in a few more “sprays” to make the pins look like the picture, and I should have the pins in just a few short weeks! I love it when things work out this way.

Are any of you wearing hair accessories in addition to (or underneath) your veil?

How do they stay in your hair? From the etsy seller’s picture they seem really wide.

I’m wearing a family heriloom brooch in my hair under my veil so that I will have something in it for the reception!

I wore a comb decorated with pearls and crystals that I made myself (after much trial and error). It turned out gorgeous, though I’m still finding beads here and there in the house from where they got “lost” (with help from my cat).

I didn’t wear a veil - instead I had hair pins with flowers made from faux pearls. They were one of my favorite details!

I love that picture! I have been looking for what I thought was the barrette in that picture forever! Would you mind if I ordered something similar from Butterfly Enchantress Designs??

Thanks for the tip! I have been looking for something like that for my hair as well- its a short bob, so my only option is the half back ‘do. I thought it would be nice to something sparkly in it once I take my veil off at the reception!

valeqt - They are just hair pins, so they’re kind of inserted into your hair like bobby pins.

may08 - Of course I won’t mind! I am happy that I might have helped you find a solution. I thought it was a barrette at first too ;)

I already ordered my hairpins from Butterfly Enchantress Designs on Etsy a few weeks ago. I had an equally fabulous experience! I have five stephanotis flower pins, three are pearls, and two were custom designed with an extra pair of my earrings as the centers. I LOVE them so much, and plan to wear them under my veil; such a fun, unique option. Definitely check out this vendor! They are great!

Try Hair comes the bride. They have tons of hair pins that are inexpensive.

I bought a barrette (similar to the first photo posted here, but pics in my bio) and that is going to be sewn onto the top of my veil, so my veil will flow from that. I love the extra sparkle. :)
