About Mrs. Lovebug

Emerald, Truly

April 26th, 2008 @ 4:14 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

I know, I know. The primary goal of a haunted honeymoon is to hunt ghosts. But we are positively overcome with how…green everything is here in Ireland. I wanted to share just a few images of the gazillions I’ve collected so far (seriously - thank god for Flickr Pro)…

Cabra Castle, where we spent last night. It’s reputedly haunted by the ghost of a young servant woman (who was killed for having an affair with the son of a wealthy estate owner).

Of course, when you stay in a castle, you don’t get an electronic room key.

This is Sarah’s Bridge, in the forest near the castle, where the young woman was hanged by the townspeople in 1810.

The perfect Burton-esque cemetery, just outside Kingscourt. We walked around, just taking it in, and all these ravens kept screaming at us as they circled overhead. They say ravens are the protectors of the dead…

A country road I wanted to go exploring, but I was overruled due to rain (and Mr. Lovebug’s lack of dry shoes); at least I have a zoom lens!

We don’t have colors like this in Arizona. We just don’t.

We went exploring in our tiny rental down some backroads yesterday. Found all these cool ruins, which, of course, I wanted to climb around in. Overruled on that, too - doh!

The view, pretty much every which you way you look.

A footpath in the forest near Cabra Castle.

I promise on my next update, I’ll have an inventory of all ghostly goings-on!

I think actually, that the point of a haunted honeymoon is to spend time alone and to NOT blog on t’internet ;)

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the famous 50 Shades of Green … at least you know all that rain is there for a good reason.

Having grown up in Arizona as well, I remember getting to Ireland and saying “ohhh!” out loud. It’s more color shock than culture shock. They really are serious when they say “a thousand shades of green”
