Handle With Care

April 28th, 2008 @ 6:03 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

I love flowers and one thing I am extremely excited about is my bouquet. I can’t wait to actually hold it… it’s going to be stunning. Apart from the actual flower choice and color combination, another important element to any bouquet is the handle. For me it’s as important as the bouquet itself, so I thought I’d opt for a unique handle.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to dressing the bouquet. Here are just a few examples:

Elegant ribbon bouquet paired with unique looking buttons - source
Unique ribbon ruffle and bow - source

Vibrant two toned ribbon braided handle - source
Bold color, I love the contrasting colors - source

I love the use of ribbon to create a cuff for the bouquet - source
Also the beautiful work in the handle make the whole bouquet so glam - source

This look is absolutely stunning, various shades of
ribbon creating a waterfall of textures - source

Go all natural by using actual leaves to create the handle - source

Using fabric and ribbon - source
Wire wrapping used as a bouquet cuff - source

Different sizes of ribbon paired with beautiful embellishments- source

If you have some more images of unique bouquet handles, please share the love. We can never have enough pictures in our wedding image bank.

Will you be having a unique bouquet handle? Is the handle important to you?

I love love love the top photo, bouquet on the right. The colors would be perfect for our wedding and the ruffles are too cute! Great find, I’m definitely stealing this photo to take to our florist… once I find one.

I am in love with the third row from top, right picture: the purple bouquet with brown ribbon. Anyone know what kind of flowers those are? I must have this!

These are gorgeous! My bouquet will be wrapped with lace from my grandmother’s wedding gown- also my “something old.” I’m totally going to cry.

I *think* I’m going to use a sash that came w/ my MOH’s dress for both of our bouquets…
but then I found hankies that belong, according to my mom, to “an ancient relative on your grandmother’s side”–so, I want to incorporate that! We will see!

I wrapped mine in crystal trim that I bought yards and yards of at Hobby Lobby. It was totally jewel-encrusted - very pretty!

Wonderful! Mine looked like the last set of pics you showed-white satin with pearls and crystals. It was exquisite! I also love the “waterfall of ribbon” look..so pretty!

i’m tying my dad’s wedding ring to my bouquet handle — so while the wrapping won’t be especially important, what’s attached to it definately will be!

I’m probably rediculous, but I incorporated plaid from my favorite vintage skirt that I wore on my first date with my now Husband into so many details at our wedding. My Garter, the Bouttoneer Leaves, Scanned the fabrc in and printed out identical program covers on linnen cardstock… to name a few details.

But I also took a strip of fabric and sewed the edges and gave it to my florist to wrap around my bouquet, which she secured it into place with a thin brown ribbon crisscrossed (I think that it’s called a ballet wrap) IT WAS PERFECT, and the best part was that only my mom, sister, best friend and florist new the significance of this tiny detail that was strewn throughout our wedding :)

My bouquet was wrapped in ivory taffeta to match my dress and all the BM bouquets were wrapped with scraps from their dress alterations (all but one required some pretty serious hemming). I REALLY wanted to have the whole bouquet wrapped so that no stems were showing but due to the nature of the flowers in my bouquet (Casablanca lilies, of course!) I had to have the stems peeking out so the bouquet could sit in water right until I walked down the aisle. They still turned out lovely.

All beautiful options. The yellow is unique and I haven’t considered anything like that before.
