The Venue Walkthrough

April 28th, 2008 @ 4:59 pm by Mrs. Cream Puff

On Friday, I met with our event coordinator again to go through our venue and decide about important things. Namely, we discussed how many tables we would need and where to put them. I’m not very happy about how many tables we will have. Not happy at all.

columbus.gifFor some reason, I thought we would be having 10 people at each table. That means 15 tables, if we hit our max of 150, right? So that’s how many drawings I made. 15. As it turns out, we have to have 8 people at each table, because of our chargers (and before you get all excited, I’ve gone through every possibility–even with giant tables, 10 is just not gonna happen). So that means 19 tables. NINETEEN. This means I have to draw SIX MORE DRAWINGS. I am not happy about this. When this topic first came up, I thought, “okay, simple as this: I will shamelessly recycle some drawings I have made for clients. Quick! Let’s go make a memory in a vineyard.” Mr. Cream Puff, however, seems to think this is cheating. Part of me wants to cheat still. The other part of me thinks I should suck it up and do six more drawings, but try to make them simple.

We’ve come up with six more memories for me to draw. Here they are:

  1. the Cadillac Ranch in Texas
  2. the time we went to Ocean Beach (a windy beach in San Francisco) and tried to have a picnic, but got attacked by seagulls.
  3. On our roadtrip across the country, our GPS led us astray on a seemingly abandoned part of Route 66, where we came upon Oatman, AZ and were completely confused by signs for Burro Crossing.
  4. Sitting in the airport with our three cats during our move back to California from Columbus, Ohio (we were there for a year).
  5. Our night trip to Alcatraz (I feel like this one is kind of weak, but whatever)
  6. Our trip to Vegas when we saw Cirque du Soliel’s LOVE (I feel like this one is weak, too).

Some of them will be relatively easy to do, but some of them, not so much. UGH. Such is life, I suppose. Oh, and BTW, this also means at least 4 more sandwich boards. Tutorial coming soon! Or maybe I’ll swallow my fear and make one on BeeTV?

I might be missing something here, but don’t you only need four more table names (19-15=4 last time I checked). That means you could skip the ones you think are weak!

I was looking back through Miss Cream Puff’s posts looking for more of those completely adorable illustrations and it seems the last count she had 13. Wow I am a stalker. It’s unfortunate you have to make more, but I am sure everyone will love them!

normal tables w/out chargers seat 10 people, right??!! I’m seriously hoping I don’t have to make more table numbers, too..

OK, so first, I googled “what’s a charger,” and then I started freaking out, because I *think* our place settings are normal sized, but if I can’t fit 10 at a table, there will be trouble now …

*fires off panicked e-mail to caterer*

tater says:

Miss Cream Puff what size are your tables? I’m using chargers as well and currently am budgeted around 10 people per 60″ table…. I have a sinking feeling that I’m mistaken now??

I’ll lol’d @ your Ocean Beach story b/c that just sounds so typical of what would happen there. XD

Also, your A&F picture is so cute. Is that a recreation of the A&F in the Westfield mall? :P

My site coordinator told us 8-10 people per 60 in round when we booked and now 6 weeks and counting she tells me a solid 8 people per table! I know exactly how you feel!Good luck!

I was thinking of chanting “Bee T-V!” but someone beat me to it.

Oatman looks like fun. I think I’ve seen articles on it before. I definitely remember reading about Gable and Lombard honeymooning there.

Miss Pineapple is right–I have only done 13 drawings so far… :-/ We are working on condensing thing right now (still). At the very least I need at least 2 more drawings.

@My tables were 60″ rounds, but now we’re thinking of making them 72″ rounds. I think that my caterer may just want people to be supremely comfortable. We have a lot of stuff on the table, so that also might be wy.

@Michelle: I really think the chargers will be worth it…and according to my caterer, they’ll be on the tables all night.

I’m definitely planning on doing BeeTv, I’m just having a problem with the logistics of it all–I will have to move my computer…
