Bridesmaids’ Gifts

May 1st, 2008 @ 3:36 pm by Mrs. Peony

We’re back from our honeymoon! Greece is a beautiful, wonderful destination and I would recommend it as an ideal honeymoon location in a heartbeat. I’m still organizing the hundreds of photos not to bore you all, so I’ve decided to write about my bridesmaids’ gifts.

With so little time and money before the wedding, the gifts were not DYI or too extravagant. I wanted some simple yet meaningful, personalized and similar at the same time.

I ended up purchasing the gifts from Kate’s Paperie. While they are not typical bridesmaid gifts, there is a meaning behind each gift and I have to admit that I’m a bit proud of myself for conveying each message through the gifts.

Gift #1: Represents our ever-growing friendships

The Eggling. Made of porous white ceramic, the top of each egg is to be cracked with a spoon and the seeds (included in the kit) are to be planted in the soil.
Gift #2: Represents all the memories to treasure

Mini leather suitcases. These come in three sizes and three colors (green, red, and purple) so I bought one of each size in each color for all the girls for a total of three suitcase per bridesmaid. The suitcases can be stacked or nested…too cute!

Gift #3: So we’ll always keep in touch

Stitch Letterbox. These come in 4 colors (red, green, brown, light blue) which was perfect for my 4 bridesmaids. Each box folds out to reveal a pen, cards, and envelopes. I personalized each card with the girls’ names.

The night before the wedding was spent at the Affinia Manhattan, where we girls had a sleepover. I presented the gifts then, and explained the meaning behind each gift. They loved it!

As for my maid of honor, I wanted to give her something in addition to the gifts above. So I outright asked her what she wanted. (”Look, either you can get a gift I think you’ll like, or you can get one you want or need.”) Although my little sister was resistant at first, she confessed that she’s always wanted a pair of pearl stud earrings, so I bought her a pair of 7.5mm Akoya pearl earrings. She wore them on the day of the wedding and I couldn’t help but smile every time I looked at her ears. happy060

Would you mind me asking for details like Amy (specifically budget)? We are beginning to plan our honeymoon and Greece is one of our top choices.

Hi Kat and Lae,

You can read about the details of my honeymoon at the link above, and everything was arranged by Homeric Tours. I highly recommend this agency because not only did they customize a trip according to our requests, they also managed to do it at a cheaper price. They had someone to meet us at every stop, arranged all transports, and even had a local office and number for emergencies.

The total price of our honeymoon was just a bit under $6,000. The price may even be higher now due to the weak dollar and high fuel costs.

Congrats Mrs. Peony!! I was looking at your save the dates…and it’s a great idea and very inexpensive too….how did you get your pic on there?? I clicked on the link and got to the site, but it doesn’t say anything about photos…or maybe I’m just computertarded….I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t mind telling me how to do it?? Thanks a lot and again congrats!!

Hi MissPodo,

I actually took that design and used it as inspiration to design my own via Photoshop and Illustrator. I’m really not sure how the process would work if you ordered it from that website…sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
