I love the details on the dress but alas, the hoop skirt does not look right on my short torso!

I wore a hoop skirt under my wedding gown! It’s nice in that it keeps all the material away from your legs so you don’t get so hot. But sitting down feels a little funny. :)

I was a member of the International Order of rainbow for girls, which is (www.cairog.org or http://www.iorg.org) a community service organization, and we were hoop skirts it is very fun !
If you make the top bones smaller than the bones lower down it will make more of a bell shape, and less if a “marshmallow” shape, if that is what you are going for =) .

Don’t forget to attempt sitting down in it - beware - they tend to pop up!! (when they were an every day thing women sat on stools so they didnt have to press the hoop and risk the pop up effect!!) =)

Also, if you are plan on ditching it for the reception - make sure you tell the alterations chick so it doesn’t end up dragging the floor when de-hooped!

you guys like it? I was saying that it was TOO BIG! Hehe :) I’m going to take out the top hoops and shrink the bottoms hoops…it’s stretching out the sample, and I don’t want it to do the same to my real dress :)

yeah…this is a bit much. i love your dress sooo much, but you do resemble a fluff of marshmallow here…..

but a really, really CUTE marshmallow!!!

i am sooo relieved that you are gonna take it down a few notches. but i see the look you’re going for. it will be sooo vin-ta-li-cious!

I completely agree with the “pop-up” phenomenon. I used to sing in an old fashion group, and we would wear hoop skirts and bonnetts. I must admit I wasn’t used to the hoop, and may have flashed one or two onlookers when I would sit…. oops! Very pretty though, flattering!

I’m thinking of wearing a hoop (not for the poof factor) but to avoid hemming a dress that is 1″ too long. Also, I think it will help keep me cooler.

I’m going to shrink the hoops so the bottom hoop was the size of the top hoop (smallest possible) and then remove the other hoops altogether.

Can’t tell if my masterplan will work because dress is at seamstress.

Yes Miss Shortcake , PLEASE do try sitting! It takes practice! I do agree a slightly smaller hoop will display the drape of your gown. ^-^ But you are a verry cute marshmallow!!!
