Psychotic With Details…

May 1st, 2008 @ 12:39 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

I am attempting to preserve my bouquet to use the following day for our second reception. A little bit of wishful thinking? Maybe so… if anything, I have a back up one anyway. I have plenty of vases, ribbons, and adorable book cloth (that I bought a long time ago from Daiso) that I threw together for a resting/hydrating place for my bouquet during the reception. I want to love it and protect it as long as I can since I won’t be drying it afterwards.

Ooh to the aah aah aah, I lurve it and will keep it to use later on in our home. Mr. CB is really going to hate cherry blossoms after the wedding. It’s super overload! LOL.

I had tons of leftover votives and didn’t want to waste em, so of course, I created another project for myself… insert *Mr. CB shaking his head*. I scoured the net for some easy tutorials to help me in my quest to spice up my votive candles that are tapered. A simple, straight 1.5″x 4″ was not going to cut it, it was going to connect really weird if you wanted it smooth against your glass. But I came up with na - dah. Then genius strikes again! Wah - bam!

I have to say I drool worthy love ‘em tons. I wrapped up all the bunked etched votives, NOTHING goes to waste, and wrapped up all the leftovers too. I left it up to my coordinator to use them in the room for our cocktail hour and anywhere else she saw fit. Lookie, more splash of CB patterns and I put more use to my LARGE rolls of ribbons! Me smoochies.

And girls, because I love y’alls, Imma share my how-to! HI FIVE YO!

HOW TO:
1) I created the template in Word.
2) I measured the circumference of the circle so I knew how far apart I’d need to draw my lines.
3) I drew slightly diagonal lines, tapering inward.
4) Then to get the most difficult curve for the votive, to make sure it tapered perfectly… I just drew two ovals, connecting the two sides of the ovals to the tips of the diagonal lines.
5) Next I trimmed the paper cutting around the top of the two circles and two diagonal lines. And voila, wrap it around the votive, and perfecto fit!

As simple as that!

I changed the lines to a faint gray, so that you could use it as a guideline, it may show a little on the inside but it’s what’s outside that matters! I didn’t bother to go back and try to draw over the line - if you’d like to mess around with the template you can download it here!

Happy wrapping away!

hahaha… you’re crazy! =) I’ve got two months to go and I don’t think I have time to even do anything to my votive holders except put a candle in them! But that template is pretty awesome =)

Nice! I’m putting ribbon in a couple of vases for my manzanita trees. Question, what did you use to secure and glue the the ribbon to the votive?

Depending on the flowers your bouquet should hold up well… My mom took all of our flowers including my bouquet back to her hotel (the night of), and drove it back to my parents house.

We saw it two days later, and it was perfect… so perfect in fact that we took pictures of our rings in the blooms two days after the wedding because we realized that our photographer forgot to do those shots. (unless he somehow magically took the rings off our fingers when we weren’t looking :) - )

LOL. I think after your wedding, you have more than enough ammunition to take on the wedding planning world. Your wedding alone will be a ginormous testament of your committment to original/creative details and ideas!

Can’t wait to see you guys this week!!!!

@Miss Penguin: I so wish you were too sugar dumplings. Mr. CB is sad you are not going too. :( But we know you are there in spirit.

@evelinej: for the paper, i used regular scotch to secure it to the votive on the inside and then the outside to secure bc i figure i was putting ribbon over it and it wouldnt matter. then i used scotch tape to secure the ribbon on the inside and where it overlapped on the outside finally, i used double sided tape. i hope that makes sense.

@Caroline: i bought my votives from cudge.net.

@Kpenn: Bc I have orchids, freesias in my bouquet next to peonies, I am not sure that it will be hold up really well to it all.

Hey Mrs. CB!

I was wondering if you could share what you used to adhere the book cloth to the votives?

Thanks… :) I can’t wait to see more photos from your wedding! It looks gorgeous!!!

@Deb: Hi Debs, that book cloth that I got from Daiso was an adhesive bookcloth tape. I should have been more clear. For everything else, I used either permanent double sided tape or super tacky tape from paper source. hope that helps and thank you for your kind words.
