(Okay, he reads this blog so he’ll probably see this coming, but I had to. Sorry Mr. Hum!)
May 1st is one of my absolute favourite days of the year. There are lots of reasons to like it of course, the fresh start of a new month, the promise of good weather around the corner, but I love it because 25 years ago today, Mr. Hummingbird was born.
Of course I had no idea how significant it was on the actual original day since I was only eight months old and probably chilling somewhere in Toronto drinking a bottle at the time, but it was a day that changed my life by introducing the man I was going to marry to the world.
So in honour of this great event, without which, among many other things, I would not be blogging here today, I’m schmooping it up and celebrating my beloved’s birthday here on the blog.
Behold, Mr. Hum through the years, starting with a picture that probably closely resembles the face he is giving to his computer right now:

The slightly confused and highly suspicious “What are you doing?” face.
But to start in a more chronological way, I suppose we should go back closer to the beginning and start with another of Mr. Hum’s memorable looks - the Mr. Hum sneer (as presented by elementary school Mr. Hum):

(taken, if I’m not mistaken, in Winnipeg, during a trip to visit his mom.)
Followed by the shy and satisfied smile:

(Mr Hum is on the left while his brother and best man Nick is on the right.)
The “Take the darn picture, I’m freezing my butt off out here” look:

(taken on the U of T campus on a very cold November day.)
The sexy sunglasses look:

(taken at Mr. Hum’s father’s wedding two summers ago.)
The “I still look noble and hot while doing something geeky” stance:

(taken at the bookstore Mr. Hum used to work at during Harry Potter day - he was a Quidditch player and I was a Beauxbatons girl.)
The “Watch me pretend to be scary and eat the cat” face:

(taken after we participated in Toronto’s Halloween Zombie walk. Beebs does not look very impressed.)
The “Feel your uterus skip a beat as I help this small child down the stairs” pose:

(taken by me at our engagement party - one of my absolute favourite shots of the day.)
And my personal favourite, the “Let me put my arm around you and just be generally awesome” look:
(taken by our wedding photographer Tom just after our first anniversary.)
Anyway, Happy Birthday Mr. Hummingbird! All my love today and the many days to come!
XOXO,
Miss (soon to be Mrs.) Hummingbird
