I wound up ordering the long coin pearl necklace from Etsy, and I couldn’t possibly love it more! I was able to try it on with my dress last month (the dress is hanging out safely at my parents’ house, preventing my urges to wear while watching movies and conducting household chores) and I am happy to report that the necklace fits the style of the dress really well. We decided that it looks best with a double strand, like this:

My Mom and I decided that some sizable (9-10mm) pearl studs would be the perfect earring to tie it all together (plus, I am a stud earring type of girl and will definitely wear them again), and therefore the hunt for the perfect pearls became part of our project that weekend.

We were at Macy’s looking for some socks for the boys when we decided to check out the jewelry counter. I was sure that I would have to get fake pearls, considering the size I wanted them to be and the fact that I wasn’t willing to spend a small fortune on earrings. We found the real pearl section and decided to just quickly ask about the price of the perfect pair of 9mm pearls that was staring us in the face. The original price was a little staggering, but then the saleswoman told us that they were having a 50% off sale, plus there was a 10% coupon, and if you used your Macy’s card there was an extra 15% off…oh how I love a good sale!

We wound up getting the earrings for 75% off, which ended up being almost exactly what I wanted to spend. So, I give you my wedding day earrings:

I would have never thought to look in a department store for pearls, so this just goes to show that you should always keep your options open!

What kind of earrings did/are you wearing on your wedding day? Are you planning to get something that you’ll wear again?

I’m a stud earing girl myself so I’ll probably wear the diamond studs I always wear that my mom gave me when I was a senior in High School. They are lovely and perfect and I love them! I couldn’t dream of wearing anything else :)

I’ll also wear diamond studs (things hanging from my ears don’t bode well!). One of the diamonds is from my grandmother’s ring, and my dad had it made into earrings. He gave me the earrings about a month ago, and I absolutely LOVE them, because I don’t really have much from my grandmother, so it’s also my something old. =)

So pretty! I hope that I will be able to find something I can wear again. Something like the studs you picked would be perfect.

lovely necklace and pearl earrings!! just to note, though, Macy’s coupons aren’t combined like 50% off + 15%off + 10% off. It’s 50% off original price, then 15% off the remaining, then 10% off your remaining price. so, if the pearls were $100, 50% off is $50, then 15% off that would equate to $42.50, then 10% off that would be $38.25 (~62% off of original price), which is more than 75% off of $100 = $25.

My best friend and Maid of Honor makes jewelery as a hobby and sells it on Etsy, so I “commissioned” her to make my wedding day jewelery. I love that not only am I going to get something custom made so it will match what I am wearing, I get to wear something made my my MOH for my wedding!

I also wore studs for my wedding. It’s more me, and I had a stand up lace collar, so I figured larger dangling earrings would be too busy. It just fit my look for the day better.

I am wearing a pair of diamond studs as well. They are my “something old”; I will be the 5th woman in my family to wear them on my wedding day:)

i am itching to order my veil for the express purpose of wearing it around the house while doing mundane task and chores.

when else would i be able to wear a veil?

as for the earrings? what a deal! i totally plan to scope out the department stores. years back i got a bracelet to wear to my junion prom from a department store….i loved it and told my mother i would wear it when i got married.

she laughed.

nearly 10 years later, i plan to wear that exact bracelet and will be checking out the department stores for earrings.
